Melee Hunter - Mongoose Bite

Mongoose bite can only proc after you Dodge, this doesnt really happen a lot in a PVE scenario with a tank etc. or Solo play if you use your pet to tank the damage

Cool way to introduce this into the melee hunter rotation i think would be add its proc to the pet taunt. They both share 5 sec CD. So when you are fighting your pet taunts 1 mob, and boom you can a Mongoose bite proc

Thoughts?

Scrap that, Lone Wolf could be played on melee i guess

As a melee hunter for solo play I think you should be the one taking the damage, with aspect of the monkey on, with pet as a support (probably with carrion bird with screech to reduce incoming damage). I remember this from some old guide and I might be wrong.
But of course I get your point :slightly_smiling_face:

Yep, there has to be a change in existing runes or a new rune that allows you cast MB in group scenarios (like when you melee crit or on pet crit or whatever that is not dodge nor parry). MB’s icon is the icon for Survival tree, so it would be nice if it was not the most useless melee skill.

Mobs can dodge from behind no?

Adding a way to proc it outside of dodge sounds like better gameplay

It’s you who has to dodge is the problem.

It definitely would need a new way to trigger if we are to actively use it, but it also needs massive damage boost, because right now it’s not worth pressing even when it does trigger, the damage it deals is absolutely pathetic, like, less than 1 damage per mana spent on it.

If it was up to me, I would make it a proc chance off pet attacks, remove the cooldown, and the ability would actually scale with either weapon damage or attack power.

I would add a new rune with a bleeding affect (it is a bite in the end) and pets would do X % more damage to bleeding targets from MB (since pets are kinda balanced now).

That would also work, especially if the bleed would benefit from Flanking Strike’s mongoose bite damage up, so you have incentive to try and refresh it during those windows.
