Memories of Brigante

For anyone else who had totally forgotten; there’s a portal to Quel’Danas from Shattrath. Neutral territory, so should just be a case of bringing some elixirs of tongues if you’re on Alliance :smile_cat:

It’d be lying for me to say that we had many positive run ins the last few years- But the ones we did, he was an alright man.

In fact, the last time I saw him, was when he attended my hallowed ball venue about three years ago in Silverpine- And consequently, he also won the said costume contest back then, because his Varian Wrynn costume was the best onw that year.

I used to roleplay quite a bit with the man back on my old main Boush- And though I regret what went down in Northrend that one faithful evening during Chook’s campaign, I don’t remember having ill-will toward the man. We disagreed on a good number of things, but then again we didn’t really rp a lot anyway.

Sad to hear of his passing.

Here’s to you, Brigante.
Thanks for the many campaigns we rp’d together and all the social rp we did in Wyvern’s Tail inn.
Agree or disagree with the man, he was undoubtedly a pillar in the Belf community and influenced a great deal of rpers back in the days.
I’m sorry that things went south in the end.
Rest in peace.

To say that Brigante was a legend of the forums is no exaggeration. His streams of consciousness that bordered on copypasta material caused a great deal of humour here and elsewhere, and while he wasn’t much loved a lot of the time he was instantly recognisable.

When you saw: “Brigante is typing…” at the bottom of the thread, you knew you were in for a good time in about an hour or so when the post actually dropped. Every now and again something worthwhile would come from the effort, and he was always good fun about his reputation when posting was concerned.

When I first started my :poop: posting career, he was in every thread dropping his two cents and I’ve missed seeing them since he migrated to General Forums.

You didn’t always see eye to eye with the regulars on here Brigante and towards the end of your time here on the Argent Dawn forums it became awkward and difficult, but first and foremost you were a roleplayer, one of us.

I’ll make my best effort to attend.

Will do my best to attend, although not an AD person. I guess the times stated are server times, so should be back from work in time.

This sums it up perfectly

As someone who has a night shift that day I’m thankful this is being streamed so I can follow it.

I didn’t know Brigante but I always enjoyed reading his posts since they truly were one of a kind in a good way, I always learned a word or two I didn’t know before. My condolences to his family and friends too.

Oh my christ - I’ve been out of the loop for a long time but Brigante/Dewilde was an OG footman and I had the absolute privilege and pleasure of playing with them for some six or seven years. We had our ups and downs but every time Footman popped back on the scene they were there in the ranks eager to tell some kickass stories. I’ll try and carve out some time in my schedule to attend because the guy was a legend and it’s honestly heartbreaking to hear we’ve lost him.

In 2019 Brigante told us a joke about an NPC legend he’d made up as part of Sun Hawks background lore. He gave me permission to name this character after the legend. So! Here’s the joke. I think it perfectly captures his sense of humour.

Brigante says: Firelle was a real chap, eleven Kills, a proper hero, and a ladykiller, so here’s the dirty joke…

Brigante says: So, there is Firelle, the gallant Dragonhawk Rider, and he sees a maid in some distress, attacked by Amani, so swoops down, puts them to flame and lands.

Brigante says: The Maiden is abashed, but nods “You have saved me, you may kiss me, upon my lips” Firelle takes out a bottle of red wine

Brigante says: Splashes it over the maiden’s lips and kisses her passionately “But Firelle, why the red wine?”

Brigante says: “Because I am Firelle, the famous Dragonhawk rider, and when I taste succulent red meat, like your lips, I do so, with red wine!”

Brigante says: The maiden grows bolder, and lowers her halter, revealing her chest “Firelle, you may kiss me -there-” And obligingly, Firelle then spills white wine over her chest, before kissing her devotedly" “But Firelle, why the White wine?”

Brigante says: “Because I am Firelle, the famous Dragonhawk rider, and when I taste succulent white meat, like your tender breast, I do so with White Wine!”

Brigante says: The Maid grows bolder still, and lets fall her dress, pointing to her nethers, “Firelle, you may kiss me…there…” Firelle splashes Brandy upon the area, then sets it alight!!!" “Firelle! Why!” She screams.

Brigante says: “Because I am Firelle, the famous Dragonhawk rider, and when I go down, I go down in Flames…!”

hhahhahhahha well done :clinking_glasses:

I will try my darned hardest to be there but if I cannot make it could someone please read this; Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night. I feel that poem sums up Dudge to a Tee.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I never met him in game but I knew very well who he was. His writing style was special and unique.
l now feel honored for the exchange of words we had on a thread almost two years ago.

The influence he had on this community is unquestionable, being there to pay my respects is the least I can do.

Very sad to hear about Brigante’s passing, and I felt compelled to come back and make a post when I heard.

I remember him leading the Sun Hawks during the various RP-PvP campaigns that I attended some years back. He always had a presence during them, and sometimes there came with that some controversy. That said, he seemed very earnest about RP, which is all you can ask of a roleplayer, and he seemed like a decent skin behind it all. I’m aware he was very well liked by the players who were closest to him.

I’d like to come and pay respects that night if possible, just for old time’s sake.

RIP Brigante, best wishes to those who were closest to him as well.

Echoing this:

“Very sad to hear about Brigante’s passing, and I felt compelled to come back and make a post when I heard.”

and this:

“I never met him in game but I knew very well who he was.”

Brigante did stand by me a few times when I was new to WoW and it felt like most forumites were against me. So I read his posts occasionally. Most of what I read was a mystery to me. But his style was always so distinctive and specific.

RIP Brigante, you had the courage, decency and integrity to be special and unique.

I enjoyed reading his walls of text on these forums thoroughly, even though I have never gotten around to meeting him IC or making his acquaintance OOC.
I hope he’s at a better place now, and wish all those who mourn him the best.
I’ll be there to pay my respects.

This is just a reminder that the memorial for Dudge’s send off will be this saturday at 20:00 Realm Time Standard. We will be meeting in the Isle of Quel’danas inn which is accessible via the portal in Shattrath. We will be giving chances for people to say anything they wish to on the day and if you’d like us to read it out for you please let us know in advance. We will be ending the night with a united Dragonhawk fly off in Pandaria with fireworks. If you can help supply extra fireworks we’d appreciate it. Also a reminder this will be streamed for those who can’t make it in person.

I haven’t been very active in here the past few months, and I decided to return to check how AD is doing and what’s going on.
This is, to say the least, a shock. I met Brigante once on my Belf several years back, we chatted IC for a bit before we went our different ways. Whenever he was typing on a forum post, I was always excited to see what he had to say about the topic at hand.

My condolences go to the people here that knew him. This was extremely sad to read, and I hope I’ll be able to attend the 26’th!

It’s hard to put into words how awful it feels to hear of this. I haven’t been very active in a long while, but I still fondly remember the few times I got the chance to RP with him and the more than a few times I got into long winded discussions with him on the forums.

Brigante, you were a legend and one of the best AD had to offer. I hope you’ll stay awesome wherever you are.

Great idea actually. And I’m assuming that place on Pandaria is neutral too.

Just to 100% confirm, this is all happening in Quel’Thalas?

It is starting in the inn at Quel’danas and from there we will move to Pandaria - yes it is a neutral area, and finish there. All information can be found in the original post of this thread.
