Ok I get it that the PTR version of Lucid Dreams pushed DK more into breath while the whole point of the class changes was to make other builds more viable.

but I feel like double rune regen is just overkill and not really worth it. It basicly results in never being rune starved, which wasn’t that much of an issue anyway. I was really looking forward to double RP cause I’m one of the very few that enjoys breath. Disapointing

I mean, deeper into breath you DO kinda become rune-starved though. Why wouldn’t you use it then? (Say, few seconds before ERW falls).

The essence is carried by its minor effect which is much more powerful than the major. Lucid minor is bis for both unholy and frost.

yeah ofcourse, I can understand its significance in its current state and it being cross spec viable or even BiS is great. But strictly looking at its state in PRT I just say I’m disapointed.

It had so much potential for 40+ seconds breath uptime. I know I shouldn’t focus on PTR stuff cause virtually all essences have been tuned down in live. But now I’ve managed to get a few extra seconds by using it like 4-5 sec before ERW falls of. Minor slot is the only way to go with it now

I just like to add to this that DK’s have the inconvenience of being the only class that has 2 resource systems for all specs. I don’t get why they went with the rune system, while Lucid gives all the other classes the benefit of increasing their generated resource rate.

this essence could work great across all specs with rune generation if they’d rework things like summon gargoyle and bonestorm. It could have the same mechanic as breath where it consumes RP over duration, like summon gargoyle used to have a long time ago. Although they’d have to tune them somewhat to avoid making it too powerfull.

Techinaclly every class that has main skills that costs resource AND are on a cooldown suffer from the same thing. Hint: MM hunter and aimed shot. Heavy focus cost, but on a cooldown aswell so you can suffer both being resource- and charge-starved.

alright if you consider a cooldown a resource, then DK’s have 3 resource systems cause obviously we have cooldowns aswell. The essence however clearly considers runes as a resource and not cooldowns, since there’s no instance where the essence increases the cooldown recovery rate for a class.

my point here is that the essence went with the lesser of 2 resource systems in case of DK’s. I sincerely hope they reconsider this and change it back to RP. but I highly doubt it.
