I can no longer talk to the mercenary mode npc as a horde player anymore, why is that? i am now forced to play in the horde side and lose 90% of the battlegrounds? nice move blizz, that will help to increase disbalance between factions

He’s still there for me in Legion Dalaran.
Same reason why we have enlistment bonus, there are less horde players atm.

There is an algorithm that assigns the Enlistment bonus and unlocks the Mercenary npc based on which faction has less people queueing.
It is uncommon for Alliance to have the Merc option up ever.

It is these days. I have heard when it was introduced it was up all the time for Alliance players.
I would not be surprised if cross-faction play shifted the population about, and thus there are much less Horde players participating in pvp.

It was introduced in WoD I think and everyone in PvP played human female, so all BGs was basically Horde vs human females. Right now there is a lot more Horde players, I don’t think I’ve seen the npc during Shadowlands at all.
