I think Hellfire should generate increased threat when in demon form, it should also be non-interruptable by enemy mobs (possibly as a new rune? or just an update to the metamorphosis rune?) - the health drain cost of the spell is fine as is I think, though it would be nice if maybe metamorphosis had some resistance towards it.
What do you all think?

It shouldn’t be necessary, since Immolation Aura was supposed to be a thing (I was also really looking forward to it). But since apparently it ended up not being added…
Tbh, though, tabbing SP works fine as is, no need for hellfire
It shouldn’t drain life, it should give life instead. And it should cost no mana, and you should be able to run while using it. Then it should also give immunity to all damage, stuns, fears snares etc

Tabbing SP works OK, it doesn’t work fine I would say. Doing SM GY aoe farm runs more than once will tell you that much
I believe you, haven’t tried SM yet, levelling my pala first in this p2, the new runes and items made the case for me (holy pala)
They just forgot about all the mechanics that completely screw Meta tanks over.
Every dungeon has mobs that stun or kick, so you can’t hellfire. At lvl 40 warriors and paladins get plate armor and druids get dire bear form. Warlocks and Rogues don’t get any kind of defensive upgrade. Shamans get mail armor, have a shield and bonus threat. Warlocks still only have dodge as an avoidance stat.

So if you want to be a warlock tank you need to roll alliance and have a paladin in your backpocket?
Did some thinking and some reading on other posts:
- Lake of Fire Rune should also include the spell Hellfire.
- Metamorphosis Rune should be tweaked so that Hellfire/Rain of Fire generates increased threat, and also passively gives you a 30% chance to resist channel interruption (so you can spec into the destro talent “Intensity” for 100% resist)
not 100% kick immune, 100% immune from dmg pushback (unless Blizzard gave paladins 100% kick immunity with concentration aura, which wouldn’t surprise me since they favor alliance for SoD). You can still get kicked while channeling Hellfire which spell locks you from fire so you can only cast curse of agony and shadow cleave for the next few seconds.
