Methods in Azeroth to stop aging, recive eternal youth or eternal life

Hey there, Story Forum.

So i was thinking about a rather (in my opinion) common drive for npcs or players characters in fantasy settings: To stop the merciless entropy of time, seeing your body wither and decay with the years, losing your reaction time and your strength, getting fragile and running out of time, while your long-lived elven, dwarven of draenei-friends still have hundreds of years ahead of them, to enjoy in physical prime.

Or in other words: Aging.

So lets assume you are a human, an orcs, a goblin or some other race, that isnt blessed by a lifespan that goes into the hundreds or thousands of years. What ways are there in Azeroth, to expand your lifespan or at least keep your body youthful, for the time that was given to you? And how hard are those to obtain, maybe depending on your profession/ class or wealth?

Of course, what first comes to mind would be Lichdom/ Undeath or demonhood, although each of those methods come with some rather severe drawbacks and require some „moral flexibility.“

But what other ways are there? What could a Mage do? A Priest, a Shaman or a Druid, maybe even a Monk. What about wealthy but non-magical elites of society?

Do we have any indication of how difficult it was for Aegwynn to live for routhly 800 years? Was it a Guardian specific thing?

What about Restoration Spells from druids?

Rejuvenation potions of alchemists?

Do those work? Is there any lore or speculation to it?

Are there other ways that didnt come to my mind?

Oooh. This is an interesting one.

Unfortunately, it’s also one where I have little knowledge of. But I would love to see some concepts like this thrown about in the role-playing scene.

What came to my mind was Turalyon, who was lightforged and fought for a thousand years. But this is probably, like with Aegwynn, a singular case, where we dont have any further information of how common such a method would be. Also, beeing lightforged probably is something that falls flat if you are an orc, a tauren or a goblin. (at the moment, at least)

There’s also some sort of timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly thing with fighting at around where Turalyon and Alleria was.

Wasnt there some kind of fountain of youth in the Kasarang Wilds in Pandaria, that would transfer someones life energy into another person, even bringing them back from the dead?

And the Titans said unto Dakar
“Come forth and receive eternal life”
But Dakar came fifth and got some AP

Dakar, you fought against the darkness in you. You’re truly a creature of the light!

My memory fails me somewhat, I can’t place this, it’s from the book where Jaina meets Aegwynn, but I remember it was said that it took some skill to be able to create the spell, but more than that, it was difficult to maintain. And that the spell could be broken at any moment with unpredictable consequences. Which I assume means the person could start ageing from then on but could also die suddenly, with all the accumulated years manifesting.

WoW has proven that an extended lifespan does not equal skill or wisdom.

Zul even if self serving was 10 times the prophet that Velen is (the fact that he had to become raid fodder does’nt change this).
