I’m looking for some help/advise. I got a new PC and installed wow fresh, I am playing on the wow classic anniversary realms, however my game seems to be micro stuttering every 30s or so for maybe half a second then stops again.
It doesn’t seem to matter where I am, major city, wetlands etc still does it, my fps never drops always stays high even through the judder.
I’ve tried various fixes from googling around but nothing seems to help. Below is what I’ve done. It’s worth mentioning it doesn’t do this on any other game just WoW.
Lowered all settings, even dropping to something as low as 5/10 doesn’t change anything
Changed to DirectX 11
Disabled all addons
Updated all my drivers
Disabled sound (this was a fix in 2022 but doesn’t help me)
Turned off any background programmes not required, so things like Xbox App, Nvidia App, iCUE, Razer App, can literally turn the PC on do nothing other than load the game and it still does it
Most of the stuff I found online were saying disabling addons worked, RAM issues but seemed to be on older machines
You should check SSD temperatures while the game is stuttering (and possibly do SSD benchmarks cold and when stuttering). Then it could be the system - so run LatencyMon, run the game and when it stutters alt-tab to latency mon and check if it’s all red and what it is reporting (could be Nvidia/audio drivers conflict which would require removing Nvidia drivers with DDU and then reinstalling them fresh after reboot, possible mobo audio drivers update; or a runaway Windows service that tries to use a lot of CPU when the game stutters).
unfortunately the vsync/tripple buffer settings didnt fix, also temperatures are all fine on SSD, I have also done a fresh format and install so drivers are all fresh, reinstalled gfx drivers to be on the safe side but still the same.
I have the most up to date mobo audio drivers but was getting crackling till i bypassed the jack directly into the motherboard and use the one on the front panel it fixed any audio issues I had…
Do you think this could be a monitor issue with the new gfx card?
I had my new PC for not even 2 months and I’ve tried literally everything to get rid of it and I still experience stutter be it Classic or Retail.
Its far less in classic compared to retail but sitting on a 14900KF and a 4090 I would not expect this to be an issue at all.
And yes before people say anything I have my BIOS updated and whether I tune down the CPU or up in IXU I STILL stutter.
Nothing when I look in HWINFO looks suspicious at all and the weird part is that untill around the 4th Jan nothing had ever caught my eye that anything was stuttering.
Addons, graphics, Nvidia settings N O T H I N G will make it go away. In classic I’m not getting it every 30th second but I do see it 1-2 times every 2 minutes, and it’s especially visual if I open bags, game menu or something like that.
Worth noting I play on a G9 OLED 240 HZ and no settings on that to try and “follow” the gpu has worker either.
I am currently speaking to various technicians, if I get any joy I will let you know.
I was hoping it would be a monitor issue as mine is ancient but now you have said that I’m not so sure.
I too have tried literally everything with no joy so far, makes me wonder if more people are getting this but just don’t notice it or post about it and carry on as when you google it, it is insane how many posts about it there are.
Try the sound fix as it seemed to work for a lot of people, load game up, disable “enable sound” option, reboot, load game up then re-enable it and people said they had no stuttering anymore.
Unfortunately it didn’t work for me, but it had a lot of upvotes.
Hi unfortunately the fix for me wasn’t as simple as settings. I purchased a new monitor that had adaptive free sync / g-sync and the micro stutter has vanished.
I think it was a case of my monitor (only 60 htz) couldn’t cope with the new gfx card.
