… surfing as per norm on Sky News and up pops this article - ok, it’s CoD focussed, but these Regulators are still doing their due diligence … wonder if the outcome on this in time will have any repercussions on WoW…
That deal will not affect WoW in any way, even if it goes through.
And if it does, WoW might be on console then, but that won’t change WoW either.
Just thinking on the lines of the Regulators, especially the UK ones and if they stipulate anything in the future that could impact … will keep watching this topic
Agreed, unless dragonflight fails. Then I’d expect them to interfere alot to prevent having to deal with huge losses for no reason.
WoW is kind of a P.R. product for blizzard at this point though, so they have no choice.
CMA and the EU one aren’t interested in CoD lol its KING and MS moblie/Azure/Gamepass reach making entering the market even harder see Stadia.
The Secretary of State would just wave it through if they did have competition concerns.
There are major concerns: Activision-Blizzard publish huge cross platform titles. Console exclusives should be banned on competition grounds. There’s no reason other than preventing it being run on another platform. It’s better for the publisher to have it on two platforms, as most do.
Microsoft bros, I dont feel so good…
Oh wow, so this is not going away - will be interesting to see what the output is in the end - not familiar with FTC but read they aren’t afraid of taking on the big tech companies - and by the sounds of things Activision Blizzard are saying bring it on!!
I agree, at the very least, watching this legal “warfront” is entertaining.
It’s very difficult to prove in USA anti-trust laws. The European Commission will be a bigger hurdle.
All Microsoft need to do is promise that any future games will come out for PS5 as well as XBox, as they should.
I can hear Microsoft singing.
We tried so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn’t even matter .
At least they would have saved billions of dollars so it’s not a big deal for em Microsoft will save money if the commission block the deal.
no console plx i am a single handed player so a console is a no go for me.
I’m sure it’s been quoted - they really want king: it’s a license to print money.
If this deal falls through then I wonder if we’ll wind up with facebook taking an interest again… Microsoft kinda outbid them when they showed interest last year. Really kinda hope this deal goes through just to avoid Facebook having any ‘in’ to the gaming industry.
You mean Meta.
WoW part of the Metaverse… yeah I’d be done with it permanently.
Here’s an interesting thought what if Tencent purchases blizzard?.
Or Riot games XD.
USA is still very anti-China at the moment, and ten cent are being watched by the The Chinese Communist Party. The Chinese Communist Party have very different ways to deal with anti-trust issues!
I don’t think Riot would be allowed either.
Come to think if it, doesn’t Ten Cent have a significant stake in Riot?
