-As a long-time WoW player, I feel compelled to speak up about something that’s been bothering me since the announcement of Midnight. Blizzard has broken what many of us considered an unwritten rule: that every major expansion brings something fundamentally new to the game — most notably, a new class.
-We’ve seen this tradition upheld for years. Death Knights in Wrath, Monks in MoP, Demon Hunters in Legion, Evokers in Dragonflight. These additions weren’t just flashy features — they were game-defining. They changed how we played, how we thought about combat, and how we connected with the world of Azeroth.
-Midnight, on the other hand, offers no new class. Instead, we get a new spec for Demon Hunters — something that would normally be introduced in a .7 patch, not marketed as a headline feature of a full-priced expansion. It feels like Blizzard is giving us less content for the same price, while saving the “real” innovation for The Last Titan. That’s not phasing content — that’s withholding it. And if Blizzard plans to introduce that class in the next expansion, then Midnight should have been priced accordingly — or offered something equally groundbreaking.
we are not obligated to a new class… sometimes its every 2 expansions, sometimes every 3rd expansion. Dracthyr literally just came out it feels like.
If Blizzard is breaking the tradition of introducing a new class every two expansions — which started with Shadowlands — and this is the new direction going forward, I’m okay with that. I just want them to be honest and say so, so we know what to expect.
We’ll need to wait and see if “3d DH spec” + “Housing” + “Prey” will have enough content for a new expansion I guess
i just see .7 content, garrison 2.0 and diablo features.
You get your purple/blue DH and a new allied race, take it or leave it
Maybe it will be fun, but it’s not groundbreaking enough to build an entire expansion around it like you would with a new class."
We have yet to see what they will do with the systems. We dont know if hero talents will stay or not.
From another thread:
We never got new classes in consecutive expansions.
Midnight is the 12th expansion, so it’s the expected one to introduce a new class — if you disregard the mistake that was the entire Shadowlands expansion.
I am sincerely hoping that they will reveal more in the panels tomorrow and saturday because as it stands, these features are not really enough imo. Even if it’s later patches we get more class x race unlocks… just give me SOMETHING more.
We get hobo elves so be happy about that
We got the “3d specc” for DH instead.
I do wonder what “Prey” will be about tho, not heard anything more about it than that little snippet in the trailer…
It’d be nice with a completely new fresh class, and I stiiiiiill argue we need a proper Necromancer.
Screw it being a DK thing, I want MOAR~ death.
But yeah it doesn’t feel like the expansion is containing THAT flashy things besides Housing, so far.
It’s alright looking tho, I suppose.
Hope the story will be better, and better characters written.
Which NEW class do you hope shows up in Midnight?
