Just something that popped up in my head today when VP capping my alt.
I know no devs are working on Cata, atleast until the “implement” button for Dragon Soul is pressed. But even though I’m probably speaking for deaf ears, I just had a Deadmines Inferno take slightly over an hour with a not so good group. Not necessarily bad players, just lack of gear and experience with the mechanics. After that, I also had a decent group in Tol’vir, not heroic raiders but still players that could step up and do some numbers. That run took 13 minutes.
So basically, you can clear Tol’vir roughly 5 times in the time it takes to complete 1 Deadmines. And yet they give the same amount of Valor points. The only pro of Deadmines is a few more Fragments, which are not that useful to most players nowadays anyway.
I think it’s time to give Deadmines the Oculus treatment. Give us a bag with an extra 240 VP after killing Vanessa, or something similar. That’d probably make it a bit less painful, and have bit fewer people moan and/or quit immediately when seeing the Deadmines loading screen.
