Mining values feel wrong

Hey y’all,

So I’ve been discussing this with guildies over the past few weeks because it is something I’ve noticed from when I played original TBC back in the day and that is that mining values feel wrong in particular what I’m talking about is the drop chance of blue gems.

I’ve spent a huge amount of time since TBC Anniversary released mining I’ve probably mined thousands and thousands of veins and I did the same back in original release and what I can say is that the chance of a blue gem in this version seems so much lower than in the original version of the game.

One thing that has become apparent for myself and many other players I’ve spoken to is that Fel Iron Deposit’s seem to give more blue gems than Adamantite Deposits - I remember quite clearly back in original TBC the chance of getting a blue gem from Fel Iron was ridiculously low whereas it was much higher from a Rich Adamantite Deposit - this doesn’t seem to be the case in TBC Anniversary.

I would urge Blizzard to have a look at this because to me at least it feels completely off.

thousand and thousands of veins? you bottin?

Nope - I just have a lot of time to play. I’ve been doing SV Stealth runs and going around BEM/NS during lock out since pretty much the first week of release after I got my main full pre raid bis and the game has been out for nearly 2 months now so yeah that’s a lot of deposits mined.

Maybe your original TBC memories were from later phases and they adjusted drop rate over the time?

According to wowhead, there’s 0.05% chance to loot rare gem from Fel Iron Deposit and 0.1% chance to loot rare gem from Rich Adamantite Deposit. So these chances are already ridiculously low and your own experience might just be an outlier if your got lucky (or unlucky).

I mean that could be the case however I’ve had at least 2 close friends say they have looted more blue gems from Fel Iron Deposits than Adamantite and several guildies if I was the only one claiming this then I would put it down to bad luck but as it stands I would recommend Blizzard take a look at it.

I don’t recall them ever adjusting the drop rate in later phases in original TBC either maybe they did but I don’t remember it at least.

I’ve had all of mine from adamantite and none from fel iron but I’ve only had around 4 blue gems total.

Of those 4, 3 came from inside HC dungeons (2 @ Steamvaults, 1 @ Underbog)

I understand but .. let me tell you that memories , especially this long, are not that sharp like you want it to believe they are.

The same discussions I remember came in 2019 with the release of Classic and then 2021 with the release of TBC Classic : “Mobs too easy!! It was not the case with original!!” , etc. Yea well, they were wrong.
