Mists of Pandaria: Healer Class Balance

Dear Blizzard,

This is a post about the state of healing in Mists of Pandaria. Specifically the healer balance.

1) Restoshamans - Extremely overpowered

This class has has too many CDs for its healing.
A. Healing Stream Totem
B. Spirit Link Totem
C. Elemental Mastery
D. Primal Elementalist
E. Ancestral Guidance
F. Ascedance
G. Healing Tide Totem

They also get a Glyph to allow them to HOT the raid with Riptide.

For utility they have a mana tide totem, and the ancestral hp buff.

It has no weaknesses really.

Solution: Reduce their healing by 10-20%.

2) Discipline Priests - Overpowered

Atonement gives them huge utlity and Spirit shell allows Disc Priests to negate boss mechanics and it is stackable with other Disc Priests.

Solution: Cap the AOE healing that shields can provide. See WoD patch 6.0.2

3) Restodruids and Mistweaver Monks are good. No changes.

4) Holy Paladin - Underpowered

They were greatly nerfed in the last patch of MOP. They relied on providing shields like the Disc Priests through their mastery. That fix was good but it made their healing output fall sharply.

Solution: Increase their healing by 10-20%

5) Holy Priest - Underpowered

This spec is disdvantaged over the Disc Priest. It needs extensive buffs to its utility and healing output.

Suggestions:

For utility:
A. Their Hymn of Hope CD is reduced from 6minutes to 3minutes.
B. Prayer of Healing and Circle of Healing provide a 10% reduction in dmg taken.

For Healing output:
A. When in Chakra: Serenity or Sanctuary they receive Archangel since they already have Evangelism.
B. While in Chakra: Chastise, dmg heals nearby targets (like Spinning Crane Kick). Cannot be combined with Archangel.
C. Chakra CD is reduced to 15 seconds.

Open to constructive feedback and other suggestions.

Fair assessment.
Holy paladin/priest is not only a bit behind on the overall output, they are also very low on damage.
In MOP because of the active mitigation the tanks have etc, the healer is “expected” to output damage to help push the bosses down faster, holy paladin and holy priest both falls behind a lot in that regard making them even less wanted in any composition.

Holy Priests can swap to Chakra: Chastise for a lot of dps. Their smite hits for 30% more than Disc priests in that chakra even without the smite glyph.

Oh yea… forgot about that one, my bad. The point still remain on holy paladin though… sadly… its my favorite healer to play, it may have to take a year+ vacation now :frowning:

I don’t blame you. Anyhow, I’m sure that Blizzard won’t do anything about the healer balance. Though there is a greater chance that they buff the Holy Paladin because of streamers who play it than Holy Priest.

no changes

Bumping this thread since the beta raids have devolved into mostly 2-3 Disc priests and 2 restoshamans.

Healer balance needs to be addressed asap.

Seems like someone has a nerf all rshams obsession. Maybe u should mention that u can only pick one talent per roll. I would say they should consider buffing the other healers and let the okish healers be ok. Dont u think its kinda biased nerfing some speccs by 10-20% and buffing the other one the same amount? xD What are these numbers, they dont seem sensfull to the gameplay. In case its not the way destroying other speccs so hpala or what ever can be good? Look at retail, this behaviour destroyed the game, esp. pvp. But i recon u only pve if u want to nerf the other speccs by 20% kekw. And i also dont understand how u wanna nerf only rsham and disc when rdruid was s++++ tier all expansion long? Make zero sense bro xD

I am not discussing nerfing restoshamans alone. I am discussing healer balance in general.

How do you mean? Healing Stream, spirit link, healing tide totems and ascedance are not talents. They are base skills for restoshamans. Ancenstral guidance, Primal elementalist and Elemental Mastery are on seperate talent rows.

That’s fair. Which healers should be buffed?

Holy Paladins and Holy priests are below average in hps by around 10-20%. Restoshamans are above average by 10-20%. The difference between the bottom tier and the top tier is 20-40%. So nerfing the top tier and buffing the top tier by about the same scale would close the gap between them.

What expansion was restodruid s+++++?

my guess is they’re thinking of rdruid in mop pvp pre-patch or legion

jesus bro just reroll plenty of time to plan out your roster, xp buff should be up soon even. the point of classic is not to have balance changes. they did it in wotlk for rets and cats because they were much more severely undertuned compared to this hpala/hpriest situation.

move on

I think that Holy Paladin and Holy priest are that severely disadvantaged compared to the other healers. That’s all.

The raid compositions over the last beta weekend prove this.
