Mistweaver Redesign Prototype

This is my idea of what a Mistweaver redesign could look like in the unlikely scenario that we get a rework in the next decade. Feel free to tell me any and all of your ideas regarding how we could make this spec better for everyone involved. (And if you think my ideas suck.)

Keep in mind that all numbers are placeholders, I didn’t do any of the math to make sure it’s balanced, they’re only soft guidelines.

New Baseline Stances

Stances have an internal 6 second cooldown between swaps.

  • Serpent Style
    Changes your Mastery to Gust of Mists.
    Mana costs of nature spells reduced by 25%.
    Healing done increased by 15%.
    Improves Crackling Jade Lightning, making it apply a stacking 10% slow to enemies hit, up to 50% for 2 seconds.

  • Crane Style
    Changes your Mastery to Martial Discipline.
    Martial Discipline increases your physical damage dealt by %mastery% (15-30%) and causes your Rising Sun Kick, Blackout Kick, Tiger Palm and Spinning Crane Kick to heal the most injured friendly target within 20 yards for 200% of the damage dealt. (Healing from Spinning Crane Kick is reduced for additional targets.)
    Your Blackout Kicks restore 1% of your mana.
    Grants you access to Spear Hand Strike.
    Your Jade Serpent Statue now acts as a conduit, extending the range of the heal of Martial Discipline in a 20 yard radius around the Statue, provided the Monk is within 20 yards of the Statue.
    Note: This does not provide AOE healing, only extra range.

New Baseline Abilities

  • Healing Elixir
  • Summon Jade Serpent Statue
    Now costs 2% base mana to cast.
    Will additionally cast an identical Essence Font at no cost when Essence Font is cast within 30 yards of the Statue.
    Will additionally cast an identical Crackling Jade Lightning on your target when Crackling Jade Lightning is cast within 40 yards of the Statue. This channel ends when the Monk’s channel ends or is interrupted, and can exist alongside a channeled Soothing Mist.

Modified Baseline Abilities

  • Life Cocoon
    Shield strength increased by 40%. Now useable while stunned.
  • Fortifying Brew
    Cooldown reduced by 1.5 minutes.
  • Soothing Mist
    No longer on the GCD. May be cast while moving at 70% speed.
  • Revival
    Heal strength in PvE increased by 50%.
    Heal strength in PvP increased by 20%.
    Revival’s dispel can no longer be traced back to the Monk.

Removed Baseline Abilities

  • Invoke Yu’lon, the Jade Serpent

Removed Talents

  • Healing Elixir
  • Summon Jade Serpent Statue
  • Tiger Tail Sweep

Modified Talents

  • Diffuse Magic
    Diffuse Magic’s dispel can no longer be traced back to the Monk.

  • Celerity
    Now additionally causes Roll to remove all snares from the Monk.

  • Invoke Chi-Ji
    Instant - 3 min cooldown
    Summons the Red Crane to attack your enemies for 25 sec. Chi-Ji’s presence makes you immune to all movement impairing effects and increases your physical damage dealt by 10%.
    Chi-Ji duplicates your Martial Discipline healing to two additional injured allies within 20 yards.
    Useable only with Crane Style, and will leave your side if you switch stances.

New Talents

  • Perfect Reflexes (In place of Healing Elixir)
    Instant - 25 sec cooldown
    Increases your dodge chance by 100% for 1 sec.

  • Blackout (In place of Tiger Tail Sweep)
    Instant - 1 min cooldown
    Causes your next Blackout Kick to put the target to sleep for 1 second per Kick.

  • Invoke Yu’lon (In place of Jade Serpent Statue)
    Instant - 3 min cooldown
    Summons the Jade Serpent for 25 sec. Yu’lon will cast a healing spell upon being summoned and every 2.5 sec on 3 nearby injured allies, cycling through Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist and Vivify. Will not cast Renewing Mist or Enveloping Mist on targets with those spells already active.
    Useable only with Serpent Style and will leave your side if you switch stances.

This is a rough first iteration of a possible rework, don’t hesitate to voice your opinions.

Looking at this from a PvP view, RBG specifically

I like this, it’s like the only ranged dmg spell we have and realistically no one is going to melee as MW. I’m surprised they didn’t add that expel harm (which can be cast on soothing mist target atm) does slight AoE dmg from the friendly target you heal.

I’d be happy even if casting soothing mist how it is now is off the GCD, same thing with placing Transcendence.

So much this, it’s like a very powerful CD but when the enemy team has a lock you’re literally suiciding when using this…which is a major block.

Don’t expect any redesign during Shadowlands, may be next expansion. So better to repeat this topic in 2 years. Blizzard won’t implement any PvP balance changes until AWC is done.

Buuut the best we’ll get is a 10% mana cost reduction, sadly. Blizz won’t give us more than % tweaks outside of expansion patches :frowning:
