hello
i would like to ask which spec is more fun between frost mage and mm hunter?
which do more dmg in open world?
which is better for pvp?
which is better for pve?
which will be better in 9.2? (chages have been announced)
Which one is easier?
whats more easy? Frost mage for sure. playing any meta class is always more easy, more easy to do dps, gear and get invited. its a reason why meta classes are meta.
I’m by no means an expert, I main this hunter (note that I’m BM so yes I’m a huntard) and I also play arcane mage with little experience in frost and fire, these are really just my 2 cents:
Open world dmg: most likely mage, and even if it’s not frost, you’re almost always guaranteed you are going to have a meta spec be it either fire, frost or arcane. Hunter on the other hand isn’t a safe choice (not as much as mage at least)
PvP: I don’t pvp so I wouldn’t really know, but mage has a very good toolkit and looking at Xaryu ‘s videos, I’d say mage
Better for pve: this is arguable, they’re very different. It’s up to you what you like the most, if you’re hunter you can have a pocket tank and that’s pretty handy, and in raids/dungeons it’s way easier for you to do mechanics most of the time, whereas as mage you have to use all your skill mainly to be able to manage movement and keep your rotation steady, as well as avoiding damage - hence you will focus more on pure dps, and that’s what people will look you for usually
No clue about 9.2 but as of now, frost looks like a safe bet and Survival hunter has a broken leggo combination
As for fun, it depends on what you look for. I really have fun on my mage, but my hunter is SO comfortable. During raids, I’m usually tasked with heavy movement mechanics, and I’m always ready to run somewhere else to help with a dangerous mechanic, all while keeping my rotation going. I love my role as the team “mechanic” (and not because I’m an engineer :P). Another thing I love about hunter: whereas mage is fun but I only like arcane (and honestly all the specs feel very similar), I like all the 3 hunter specs: bm is always on the move although a bit simple with rotation (but I like the mobility so I usually play it), MM for that non-pet heavy hitting sniper vibe, and survival is just so fun. It’s like outlaw, but more entertaining and versatile imho.
It depends and what you value the most. Even Preach the last time he was playing, chose hunter in the end because He liked doing mechanics during fights and they’re the best at it, even if hunter wasn’t his favorite class. He chose that due to what that class let him do, I think you should do the same (I mean choose the play style you’re most interested into).
