MM hunters: what can we do about Bursting Shot?

Hello! I think all Marksman Hunters agree about how highly unreliable is Bursting Shot.
You can cast it and knock away a target that is half a metre in front of you while other times you cast it on a point blank target and not move him a single centimetre.
Considering it is a non-targeted ability that relies heavily on your positioning in regards to your target it is highly unrewarding considering its failure chance.

Marksman Hunter already lacks a reliable hard-CC ability that still allows him to continue DPSing that target through the CC.

What I am going to suggest is an enhancement on Bursting Shot that still preserves the ability and fantasy behind it.

  1. Basic mechanic remains: Bursting Shot knocks back the target(s) in a cone in front but with a better detection on target - maybe longer or wider cone.
  2. New mechanic: target(s) knocked back with Bursting Shot get stunned when colliding with environment. Consider the usual scenario: most players that want to avoid the damage from a Marksman will hug a wall. Now the Marksman has the option to follow the target and knock him back into the wall stunning him. This provides an advantage for the Hunter through the stun opportunity but is also a risk considering he needs to move in the melee range of his target.
    3*. New mechanic: targets knocked back with Bursting Shot are stunned together with other players/NPCs that they collide with. I added this with a * since this can actually be too strong in a large group of players although still high risk for the hunter considering he needs to move in close to a large group of players.

I would like some constructive feedback on this suggestion.

all they need to do is to set Scatter shot out of DR with freeze trap. or Scatter shot baseline so free spot for Viper sting.

Also Bursting shot is more stronger than the stun, exept in flat flot arena since it does not knockback far enought in flat flor.


To fix it it’s simple :

  • Bursting shot must work in all angle and not only X/Z axis but also Y like Thunderstorm.

  • The knockback must make the player more like a curve instead of a straight bullet to be viable : actually why that spell isn’t liked is the knockback is more than a “push” than a knockback.
    When i mean by curve is something that make the player bump and then pushed. so it’s viable to use it on flat floor for PvP.

Remember that Bursting Shot is a good spell for interrumpt , forcing movement ( make target/healer LoS his target , It’s a AoE ( can bump 2 player ), and when in a Y axis it’s extremly stong for a 30 sec CD.
For PvE it’s pretty good for interrumpt spell that cannot be countershot or to pull mobs out of sanguin. It’s pretty interresting.

TL; DR

  • Fix AOE for Y axis
  • MAke knockback a curve
  • A pretty good spell that it’s very good to keep it
