MMR is still not fixed

getting 20 MMR for each win KEKW, lost one and got an MMR that was up to 3 wins back. the rating is not pushed, I need to play until I’m blue in the face to up the rank. You added +300 mmr to everyone, but this did not change the situation, people stuck at 1600 are now just stuck at 1900 playing with the same opponents, make that more MMR is given for victories, so that the rating rises, not stand in one place. I have to up my gear, then I have to raise my rating so that players lower in rank do not meet with me and play on their rating and gear, raise it and also grow to the top.

It seems that only 2 developers are working on retail, they pushed a lazy crutch into +300 mmr for everyone in the ladder, not going to adjust the modifier in the growth of mmr. Now the search for opponents takes from 2 to 5 minutes (I’m already silent about «Looking For Group» because firstly, the problem is just finding someone to play with, and the second problem is the outgoing teammates after a couple of defeats.), wrath of the lich king will come out soon, and people will go to play him, and in the near future now everyone will start preparing their characters in the prepatch. This means that the queue at retail will die completely, and many of you will never get a duelist or a gladiator. And in Dragonflight, the situation will be even worse.

Just think about it, I created a new character who was not given +300 mmr, and started playing from scratch with a random healer, we don’t even have a gear for the rating I played on, we just have a strong bunch and I’m a pretty experienced player. How surprised I was, having played a session of games to raise the +100 rating with difficulty. And what about ordinary people who are not able to play at the same level as, say, me, how do they get a duelist or a gladiator? Look, we started playing with 1800 rating, our MMR was equal to the rating, by the end of the session I got 1900 rating, although I should have been given tons of rating for such a winstrike, but no, the game still gave me +14 +15 for game. That is, no matter how many wins I have made in a row, MMR does not push, in the last two seasons MMR = Rating. Most likely, you will be able to get a maximum of 100 MMR in the difference from your rating, not more, as soon as you lose, MMR will immediately take away from you for 3 wins., in current realities if you have a WinRate of 50-55%, you may get something with incredible titanic labor (no).

Take a look at this guy

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/806543065782157362/1014247311548874782/unknown.png

He has almost 50% win rate and more than 300 games have been played, the system is clearly strangling him, he should not be at 1600 rating, he SHOULD NOT, his rating should not be removed for defeats, and MMR should not decrease so much.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/553214915272376341/1014413800914563112/MMR.png

This is clearly seen in my statistics, when I lost 1 time, I had to make 3 wins to get the MMR that I had before the defeat. And if I lose again, my MMR will be equal to my rating, and for the next defeat my rating will decrease very much and I will have to win again only without defeats (You should never lose!). Because they won’t give me anything for winning if rating equivalent MMR.
The same situation is in the 3x3 ladder, you will not get a gladiator, do not try, everyone who plays above 2k, they are in super setups, plays only with cool acquaintances without lfg, and even many of them will not get a gladiator I’m sure of it.

I don’t see a fun in this, everyone who denies it, you are idiots, the player should not suffer to get a duelist, everything should be much easier, Now game kills gamers who are not playing in a premade group or not in strong setups. Do at least so that for 1 defeat does not remove the MMR for 3 victories.

Sorry for my english, I’m from Germany.

You understand, I’m not worried about myself, I’m already playing gladiators games, it upsets me that my friends and acquaintances can’t get a higher rating, I’m a realist and I think about others and I’m sure many have encountered this.

Blizzard, how you love to kill your own game. Stop this, give love people.

You lost to a team with far lower mmr than you at that point. Not saying the system is ok but ofc you lose a lot of mmr when that happens.

This is totally not a working system, you have to win without losing. This is of course “cool and logic” (if Blizzard really decided to do this), but… it’s impossible to beat everyone.

Completely agree.

I don’t understand why someone should get more rating or mmr for losing more than he wins? At some point you should be hardstuck or just win more.

I think the real issue here is that you misunderstand how the system works. Climbing rating has nothing to do with win rate, you can be 40% win rate and still be a gladiator, or 60% win rate and be 1400. What it really comes down to, is what MMR you play on and against.
WoW arena rating is an altered form of the elo system in chess, where you effectively take or give points depending on what your odds of winning are, and Blizzard controls this gain or loss with a ‘k’ gain value. They can essentially control the structure of the ladder throughout a season this way.
This is why you’re rewarded more for beating teams that are on a higher level than you, while punishing you if you lose to a team that’s not. We can just take a look at the image you linked yourself.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/553214915272376341/1014413800914563112/MMR.png

The very first match a team, which was in theory supposed to be better, was beaten and the system rewards you +32 MMR. 2 matches later a team, which was in theory inferior, was beaten and the rewards are now +20 MMR. Now that one loss was a loss to a team that was down 70 MMR the leftsided team, and the system will really punish you for that with -38 MMR.
So you see, the system attempts to align your personal rating with your personal MMR, given you play enough games it’ll hold true. CR gain and MMR gain, both personal and team, are different systems, but they’re largely dependant on each other.

Assuming you have 1900 CR, as in the image, and personal MMR, if you started your Q’s at 1820 MMR and held 50% win rate, you would have lost rating. While on the other hand, now that you’re grinded up to 2020 MMR, if you maintain this MMR for the next session and have 50% win rate, you’re going to gain rating.

So

The system works just fine, if you’re 50% win rate on an average MMR that matches your rating, you can play 300.000 games and you’ll still be 1600.
To climb, you need to beat teams better than you at the present, that’s just how it is.

No. It’s based on the Glicko system, the only time Blizzard used the Elo system was in TBC (not Classic). In wotlk they swapped to the Glicko system which was gaining popularity at the time, since it was made to be an improvement of the Elo system.
Since then they’ve (=Blizzard) reiterated on it so many times that it’s a system of their own creation now, but in its core it’s based on the Glicko system with a deviation value as an extra factor. Which the Elo system doesn’t have whatsoever.

Generally speaking, gamers are more familiar with Elo (although they often confuse it by calling it ELO, thinking it’s short for something when it isn’t). But the key difference the deviation value provides to the way the rating system works, is that it takes into consideration the factor of streaks.

The Elo system doesn’t have a function that adjusts it more and more based on length of streaks, which is what the deviation value provides (it also helps in solidifying the theoretical accuracy of your current rating by stabilizing the deviation value, but that’s a whole other wall of text and not relevant to this).

In other words, the Glicko system provides the background to the function that makes you lose less rating when you lose in the middle of win streaks because it’s been destabilized in an upwards direction, and makes you lose more and more the more you lose at the moment. It reaches stability the more games you play at the rating where your wins are closer to 50%, as in 1 win, 1 loss, 1 win, 1 loss, without streaks. That’s when it’ll keep becoming more and more stabilized.

But Blizzard have separated the current rating from the MMR which is not part of the GlickoRD systems, that’s more of an original by Blizzard. But that function explained above is based on the GlickoRD system. Not Elo.

That’s true, and ironically enough you can say that’s based on both the Glicko and Elo system, but just to clarify, that’s because Glickman didn’t make an entirely original system. It was more like he added functions to the Elo system, and adjusted the Elo system to accomodate for those new functions. And those functions are what became a big attractive trait for video game companies, so developers at the time Glickman made the system and then improved on it with new versions, started to adopt the GlickoRD systems into their games in various ways because they liked the improvements.

The system works perfectly and it works this way since ever.

If people dont lose mmr for losing everyone will climb forever.
Everyone gets stuck at some point, some do at 1500, others at 2000 and others at 3000.

I remember how all these guys claimed the same thing until the moment when the blizzard intervened and added 300 mmr to everyone. Saying that everything is as it should be, EVERYTHING is PERFECT. And then Mr. GM came and said that everything was wrong.

You are a real clown if you think that this rating system is perfect, especially if you take into account the current balance of classes in the game.

Keep cool brother, no reason to be angry

So you expect another blizz post saying that obviously you are too good to be stuck and system is still broken? Yea i doubt it will happen but you do you.
Also

this sounds so fake i can’t take you seriously.

This is not true. There were some but not “all these guys”. Also, some were trolling, you prolly just didn’t understand it.

The current balance is prolly the best balance we ever had. Saying someone is stuck at low rating due to balance is a plain lie.
The rating system is fine too right now, just because you don’t understand it, it does not make it bad. You got it explained to you. If you still don’t understand it, then rather ask your questions instead of crying.

Who? Cause the way I remember it, everyone was saying EU was heavily deflated prior to the intervention.

mmr is fine stop trying to find a reason why u cant climb
