MMR/Rating system feedback (Blitz)

I posted this as a comment in some other thread under the Arena category but I figure since everyone here is talking about the same topic I’ll just post it here as a proper thread.

I cannot believe that some of you are really defending (or seem to be defending) the amount of rating that people lose upon a losing streak?

It’s a gigantic design flaw if a RANDOM queue game-mode (Blitz) punishes you for going on losing streaks which you have absolutely no control over as hard as this since such a game mode naturally comes with many losses. A game developer cannot reasonably expect even a 55%+ win-ratio consistently in such an environment when you’re literally put with complete strangers (some of which are 100-250 cr below or above you).

There is quite literally no reason as to why wins should only give +0-15 rating gain (Yes, I’ve had multiple games (some in a row) where I won and still received zero rating) and losses punish you with -15-30 rating loss consecutively.

It would be an easy fix if they simply reversed these numbers and give you -0-12 per loss and +15-30 rating per win and also On top of that also implement a grace system where you don’t lose any rating at all unless you are actually on a losing streak and lose several (2+ or 3+) games in a row (which is the norm to happen EITHER way), at which point you will lose some rating but not so much as so that it will take you hours if not days to recover from.

At least then, and ONLY then you can realistically expect the average player to climb the ladder without getting frustrated and quitting, but still have them plateau at a point where games ACTUALLY become too difficult for them and at which point they will have to learn to get better to progress further.

This is such a simple fix, so much so that I cannot believe that I have not seen anybody propose it yet. (If you have, I’ve not seen it.)

The current system is absolutely built to have you drop more than you gain and you require, straight up, a 60-70% win ratio to progress AT all which is incredibly unrealistic for the average player when playing with a group of complete strangers who half the time grief you more than they help you.

And before someone says that I simply need to learn to play; I already know how to play. Below are some of my wins. Every single game I play I am far and above the highest damage dealer and I always play towards objectives.

The losses I receive, 95% of the time are things I could not possibly have done anything about.

Having heard about this new game-mode, i decided to try it out. Multiple times, on multiple characters. And you took the words out of my mouth, i have the same frustration with this game-mode.

You’ll be surprised, but the game punishes you for winning streak as well.
Right now I’m playing on ~1.7k cr with 2.4k mmr. I get 0 benefit from this high mmr - cr gains are miserable, opponents are strong as f***. 22cr for beating 2.4k dudes is a joke. If the game assumes I should be higher than I am, then it should move me faster. Right now it feels like a torture.
It also very frustrating seeing somebody getting General achie for beating you, while you were still under 1700…

the forums are so ‘whine-aligned’ that they’re even upset when they sneak into 2400+ MMR lobbies, lose zero rating for losses and get 20-24 rating for a win. bruh

Mate, you’re one of the lucky ones. Your MMR got out of the hell that is lower rating.

Sure you might face very strong people, but unless you go on a gigantic lose streak you’re not going to lose any rating from losing. And people at those ratings are a lot more compitent.

It’s way WAAAYYYY more preferable to being stuck at low MMR because of rng and having to pray for rng to get out of that hell because you cannot carry a game entirely on your own, no matter how good you are.

Well, I don’t want any more mmr if it doesn’t bring me more cr. What’s the point of having harder matches without any benefit? Giving me less mmr would also be a satisfying solution.

my mmr is chalked and i cant do anything about it because of the luck you get with team match ups

if you dont have a MW monk, you lose

there needs to be a pvp requirement for gear ilvl of 635 at least

In Dragonflight solo shuffle we had big cr gains up to pretty much high threshold. Why can’t we go the same way in TWW? Also, no clue why they capped ss this season at 2300. This is also a problem.

you learn faster from better players. you learn what is important and what isn’t.

you do this in an environment where you literally cant lose rating, while you gain maximum rating.

people pay big money for this experience.

Solo Shuffle is hard to compare because it tries to simulate 6 games of arena then gives you rating similar to that. Blitz simulates RBG rating as far as i’m aware and in RBG you get around 24 or so points maximum for winning games at low CR but high MMR.

It’s not that hard to compare it time-wise. 1 blitz is about the same effort/time as 6 rounds of ss.
Again, I see no bad impact in moving ppl faster in cr. On Ace’s stream I saw a 1700cr player with 2900cr dh in same lobby. That is straight up ridiculous.

im getting less than 10 cr a game

nah is easy after i reached 2500 CR - ALL the games i player were like 2 ppl 2400+ and rest complete NOOBS - like cant even read tactic or count. no joke , and by some MIRACLE the other team was like full of pros. went in 2 days from 2500 to 2300 , and all the games i loose im the only one loosing CR. rest is chillin with 0 point loose. this is just STUPID dunno who made this fail matchmaking but he/she should be fired and replaced with a 5 y old cose that 5 y old will do a better job. im sure !

i won 4 games in a row and my last win in the streak only gave me +14 rating, it will take forever to reach my goals in this mode.

i remember getting +100 rating per win in normal rated bg lobbies that had such high cr enemies, not even 2400, way lower gap even.
