Mobile games have more depth than wow

you have hidden stats that should be in the basic stat window and in order to view them (stuff like Spell Power) you need to use a 3rd party addon like seriously? I’ve seen literally mobile games that allow people to see 13905319051309 stats they have because it’s cool to know what kind of stats you have since it’s a big part of an RPG for what reason are they hidden in wow? to not strain peoples’ brains with a few numbers? why do I have to install an addon to view something so basic

also somewhat a different topic but stat squish has completely ruined the feeling you get when you get a new item OH LOOK I GOT +10 HASTE THAT’S SO INSANE WOHOO said nobody ever

but if you get a 1000 increase in a stat it feels so much more rewarding

don’t get me wrong I like BFA, but sometimes little things like that really get to me

I’d much rather they doubled down on giving us less impactful gear rewards, we’d be able to get rid of the max level/pvp scaling which I think is there just to accommodate people with less gear so they wouldn’t get 2 shot by everything.

Well the basic UI exists to provide a one-size-fits-all UI that presents the most necessary information to the player.

Addons are a way for individuals to customize their UI to exactly their own needs. So rather than the one-size-fits-all, you get the tailored-to-my-needs UI.

That’s really no different from other games. When I play Civilization VI, then there’s a basic UI that does an okay job. But if I want – and I do – then I can install a bunch of addons to tailor the UI to fit my specific needs.

yes but that should NOT be considered as a simple part of the UI it’s a part of your CHARACTER there is a huge difference

Well the difference is whether it’s displayed to you or not.

I guess the reason why it’s not displayed is because spellpower is a stat that is all but phased out these days. It doesn’t really appear on any items. It mostly exists as a sub-stat of Intellect. And since Intellect is displayed, you don’t really need to display spellpower as well.

while I somewhat agree there are still trinkets that proc it (maybe on-use ones as well) so it is there and if an addon exists to show hidden stats I doubt that spell power is the only one that’s missing from the UI I could be wrong of course as I haven’t used the addon myself and don’t know exactly what it shows extra

In BfA?
I think all trinkets are designed as a mix primary/secondary stats these days.

nope look at my bottom trinket

Well that’s not strictly a BfA trinket. That was designed back in Cataclysm. The only reason it is still of relevance is because of Timewalking.

Like I said, spellpower as a stat is being phased out, so it doesn’t appear on any newly-designed items in BfA.

oh wait you’re right I just noticed it’s a timewalking item lmao okay guess I was in the wrong then

Aecclero why you no posty on your fem belf she is so much better looking .

So because you can’t see more stats that means mobile gaming is more in depth that WoW? Slightly extreme.

not just that you can’t see, but also that many stats have been removed over the years such as Armor Penetration, Multistrike (which was super fun) etc. it’s all streamlined to intellect strength agility stamina and for whatever (again I don’t know what the hidden ones are) others there are you need an addon to see apparently and yes more is better wow is an RPG and the world imo feels more alive than ever with the new zones yet the characters we play feel very empty compared to before (secondary stats are fun now though I do appreciate speed/avoidance etc. even if they don’t really do much it’s fun to have them, but they aren’t the kind of depth that actually useful stats like AP/multistrike brought to the game and can just be completely ignored)

The stats were simplified but by no means does any game on my mobile hold my attention or is more engaging than any game on my PC.

There would be a stat squish with each expansion if this happened.

Also, Mobile games never hold my attention for any more than 5 minutes max even if I play them on my tablet, they’re okay for short bursts but phone/tablet batteries cannot compete with an always plugged in PC which doesn’t have awkward screen controls.

the stat squish isn’t justified by anything but people whining that they missed 4th grade and can’t read big numbers and the point wasn’t that mobile games are AMAZING and so much better than wow, trust me I absolutely loathe mobile games more than you can imagine but that doesn’t change the fact that I’ve seen some that have more depth than WoW’s player character atm. and it feels wrong for a huge game such as WoW, a titan in the industry, to be dumbed down

and I actually personally love Azerite exactly because it gives this small layer of customization - do I want x spell to be better or y spell to be better? it’s a great player customization that imo could be even better if there were just more diverse traits to choose from and there weren’t clearly ones that were much more broken than others (so then it would be somewhat like the old talent system basically)
