Mongoose Bite and gcd (PVP)

With the way our kit works and our whole focus mechanic and how Kill Command is our only way of gaining focus,
(not adding the Lucid Dreams essence because it is not class based)
our class feels very clunky compared to other melee classes.
I’d like do to alot of changes to Survival but the top ones (PvP focused changes) would be to put Wingclip off gcd, or reduce the focus cost.

Right now Wingclip (30 Focus, 50% slow for 15sec) costs as much as our main dmg ability Mongoose Bite.

Since Mongoose Bite is a stackable attack that we need a total of 5 stacks which is 75% increased dmg, to actually start doing dmg with the ability, it feels that Wingclip somehow gets in the way and is useless, in my opinion.

Every class can either negate this effect or remove it completely, making me lose a stack of Mongoose and get nothing for it.
And on the topic of Mongoose Bite.

Make it baseline, Raptor strike deals no dmg, and 5 stacks of mongoose bite, on this hunter right now is from no stacks ~8-9kdmg, to 5 stacks ~14-16k per attack. And you really only get off like 3-4 5 stacked mongoose bites before you run out of Focus or simply run out of time for the buff.

Changing it from 5 stack 75% dmg to a 3 stack 60% dmg would up Survival pressure abit and making those last full stack Mongoose Bites to really matter and get some dmg off from them.

While still maintaining the stack effect but make it happen faster.
Or keep the 5 stack and reduce Focus cost from 30 to 25-20.
But what would we change the current talent choice instead of Mongoose bite?
Personally, some sort of execute.
Or simply change Flanking strike into an 20sec cd execute that cost 20 focus, still maintaining it’s 15yrd range.
Hunter being the one of the 4 dps only classes, the dmg feels very lackluster on all the specs compared to the other 3.

Hope anyone cares to read this through and give their honest opinion, right now I really want survival to be competetive and work in higher pvp rankings. Kinda tired of losing because of class and not because of skill. I’m not saying I’m good or high ranked, just would be nice for Blizz to actually start looking at numbers of classes again, and change them faster.

My global is down from 1.5 to 1.16 with around 30% haste, so spamming is not that much of a problem. But I do agree that 30 focus for wing clip is a bit too much when you compare it to resource use of other classes for similar abilities.

Monks if I remember correctly extend their slow by being near the target alone, and MM hunters can extend their concussive shot through use of steady shot. Something similar could be done with mongoose bite.

Some adjustments to damage distribution and talents could be done, with haste stat gains from new tier the hunter gameplay is starting to turn into what it was during Legion expansion where Mongoose bite did 80% total damage while other 6 abilities accounted total for 10%, and autoattack made the last 10%. Especially with the blur of talons PVE build where you can easily maintain around 50% or more uptime on coordinated assault, and during this time there is no point in using serpent sting at all, since base mongoose already does higher damage and extends your buff duration, which in turn enables higher reset chance for kill command.

The build isn’t something extraordinary and it has no use outside of single target tunneling, it just reduces the already minimal spell utilization down to three buttons. Outside of azerite bonuses and effects, hunter abilities just lack meaningful interaction with each other. It creates boring gameplay.

As for mongoose bite balancing, I’m not sure. SV hunter already has decent uptime on targets in PVP environment and is able to maintain it with his two freedom effects. MB already has lower base damage than the base spell - raptor strike, but it is evened out through the total buff at 5 stacks. You’d need to do some math if you want to increase base damage, reduce total buffed dmg percentage, or even reduce the total number or stacks at which the damage % modifier is capped.

The guy is right. Mongoose should just go baseline right now. Blizzard always changes or removes talents that are universally picked. So why is SV Hunters OVERWHEMINGLY picked talent just left as it is.

They should make it baseline and just edit the talent row to accomadate it. Something like you do x% more damage each stack of monggose fury or you’re mongoose fury does the same damage over 4 stacks OR make the mongoose fury window x seconds longer.

They could also do with Flanking Strike being baseline and giving it a MUCH lower cooldown and higher damage, as a hard hitting ability, something we lack a lot. Give it interaction with another ability too. Can even be enhancing your next kill command.

Lower the focus cost of wing clip to like 10 focus or take it off the GCD and make it 20. Also let bombs slow players by 50%, I dont understand that if we have to kite because apparantly as melee we shouldnt be in melee range or get borked because we have ZERO defensives of note where we can still maintain damage while stopping it (LIKE EVERY OTHER MELEE), the least we should be able to do is kite…

Also it wouldnt hurt to make posthaste base for us and the talent as it is now just gives us freedom for 3 seconds and the duration of speed increased to 6 seconds.

Tbh SV felt like a rushed spec. It seems like they were running out of time and just left it how it was, and didnt really test it before putting out on beta. Even after beta they couldnt be arsed to sort it out. and just told us “Class Fantasty”.
