Never touched the class. Is it a hard learning class ? Would like to maybe try it out sometime as long it is for dpsing
Windwalker is probably one of the more complicated melee classes. Our big moves require set up time, and cannot simply be launched into as an opener. The difference between an inexperienced monk and a player whoâs been at it for years is quite large.
Few things of note:
- Our mastery requires us not to press the same button twice and we gain a lot of dps from it
- But there are times youâll almost certainly have to press the same button twice and you have to work out which is the least dps loss
- For best AoE, we should ST multiple targets first
- But sometimes the pack will be dead if you wait that long so you should bust out a basic AoE earlier rather than optimise it
- You will intermittently hit an energy vacuum where you canât act for 4-5 seconds; this is ânormalâ
- Storm Earth and Fire has always been and will always be erratic in what it targets
But itâs fun once you know how
However, if youâre rolling one because WW is currently top on the DPS meter, be aware that:
- Blizzard donât like monks to excel at anything and will probably nerf them
- The same day this happens, people will stop wanting you in groups
- It could be tomorrow
WW is not as straight forward as other classes, but it is by no means rocket science either.
The biggest challenge in WW is resource management. You gotta balance Energy and Chi. If you mess up, you will starve yourself and you will have to stand there waiting for a bit. Also worth noting that our Mastery buffs our abilities when it is NOT a repeat of previous ability. So you gotta plan your rotation at least 2-3 abilities ahead. You canât just mash the buttons and get good numbers.
Other than that, WW is a great spec. Itâs fun, and challenging. It also has the most mobility of any class. And currently, WW is at the top of the charts for current tier.
Good advice over all, Alewin, but
This can be avoided with proper usage. The most downtime I currently experience in raids is no longer than 2 seconds, and it is rare. Simming helps to keep on top of stats ratio, Ascensions helps, and the Capacitor lege helps.
And this downtime mostly happens to me during ST fights. Never in AOE.
Macro your main abilities to have /cast Storm, Earth, and Fire (fixate) in it, and you will never have a problem with clones ever again.
Easy as pie to learn like everything else harder to master than most though I think but monk is very fluid and very very fun time worthwhile I played it in mop a little and went back to it late bfa and had so so much fun.
Is currently my. Main I canât describe it but WW design is perfect I think I really do
Monk healer u get mastery what increse ur canel mist heal at level 10 but u get chanel mist as level 20 that makes no sence at all. canel mist needs to be the first heal u learn like in level 3 just like druids gest their first heal in level 3 âŚ
OP said for DPSing. Not healing.
Freshly levelled my Vulpera monk on a whim I wanted something different.
Ended up loving him and now think I may swap from my warriors to monk.
MW isnât the best but still feels fun and involved. I really enjoy it despite feeling very squishy in PvP but I am low ilvl.
BrM is hands down the most fun Iâve had with tanking so far excluding vengeance as Iâve never Touched it! Stagger takes a little while to get used to and when to purify, more of a premed tank than reactive Iâd say. But this makes it really fun!
WW is a blast, spinning, diving, flying, lightning, tigers whatâs not to love? The damage feels smooth, especially once you get hit combo down.
Beautiful class I only wish Iâd be maining one since mop now.
Iâd main one if it didnt feel like the class got D**ked every balancing patch tbh, monks ALOT Of fun and seems very strong atm⌠but i cant help feel concerned for how it fairs in the balancing patch.
blizzard have a horrible tendency of leaving monk in the dark for long periods of time
i think its worth mentioning this is mainly in raiding. monks have always been atleast ok in M+ Enviroments as theyâve always had decent AoE i mean Most of the classes remain âunwantedâ Effectively for majority of the time .
True, but also; we need to set up our AoE. Other classes can just launch in with it, monks have to make a choice of whether to tiger palm a few mobs to first beef up their spinning kick - or just do the kick because otherwise the DH will have killed everything before they start
that is very true xD monk can defintly feel like ur ahving to take 3 steps forward to match the next classes 1 step xD i guess the big question will be how does it feel scaling wise⌠as thats normally where the problems with monk happen.
For a paladin, Iâd say yes. joking But to be serious âŚ
I havenât try Brewmaster canât comment on that. I played Mistweaver and I think by far Iâd prefer other healing specs over MW, such as Resto Shaman, Resto Druid, and both Disc and Holy.
WW wise, Iâd say itâs not complicated but it is easier to overlook something and then have to wait for the next ability. Itâs because things are on cooldown, cost combo points, and const energy. Some abilities enforce the others and some other trigger buffs. The better you control things, the better damage.
EDIT. I like WW because this is probably the most rewarding spec in the game if you undrstand it.
