Monk class abilities in SL and talents

Blizzard had presented general idea (I really hope that those icons they shown are just general ideas) on how to bring the class into stronger pronunciation above the spec for most of classes but they didnt have anything ready for monks.

I say lets throw some ideas in. They will definetly read it right? …right?

Take into consideration that what any spell you would like to be shared along the specs will affect talent trees so would be nice if you could provide replacement. May it be with total new or returning one with tweeks.
I would like you to take raid and dungeon utility into consideration. mystic touch aside in its state it might be gone but if you do will to do smth with it make sure DHs have magic equivalent.

Speaking about DH,s. whatever idea you come up with remember that WW and Havok are mirroring specs. Altho Dh,s are far ahead now in any regard you cant give monk 20 verry fun and powerfull spells without giving smth in return to Dhs. Sensible similarities but thematical and fair diffrences.

My ideas just from top of my head.
-healing elixir(dhs have crazy self heal so no to worry here)
-ring of peace base
-statue of the Ox for all specs (aka earth ele)
for brewmasters cd should stay same but for ww and mw cd can be 5m as same for shams ele. cause we all have taunt.

So that frees alot of talents for the class. Me not being so experienced in previous iliterations of monk I will leave it to more knowladgeble memebers for now.

I can only come from a wpvp, bg & wq perspective, so some things may not be as useful in Raids (like Ox statue is useless in PvP (unless I’m missing a trick!?)).

-Reduce GCD (& remove altogether for certain spells).

-Tigers Lust baseline -all specs.
Replace talent with ‘2.5s steerable Ride the Wind’
(if we’re a mobile class, then let us be mobile. I’m bored of being perma snared knocked-back rooted frozen poly’d fear’d sap’d gripped micro-rooted stunned MC’d & cc’d out of FSK & unironically told how mobile I am).
-DH gets Vengeful Retreat +snare removal + Glide + Glide negates snares

-25s Transcendence baseline

-RoP baseline
Replace talent with: anything, I’m taking Good Karma.

-15s Paralysis -all specs
(8s duration if cast from behind, 4s from front PvP)
-DH - Imprison 20s cd
(6s duration PvP +Detainment reduced to 45s cd)

-Reverse Harm baseline
-DH Blur baseline

Buff Zen Flight
-insta cast in open world + normal mount speed, acts as a slow fall in combat & can be still be used for fishing/gathering etc.

Mostly I’d take a handful of impactful skills and make them available to all specs.

  • Flying Serpent Kick
  • Lose Chi Coccoon replace it with Karma - but you can cast it on other players
  • Stagger

These things would give 2 active and 1 passive ability that sum up to “mobile, resilient, useful”, and that becomes the signature of the monk. Other things should play off that. I like the suggestion of Zen Flight above because it plays into mobility. Reverse Harm plays into resilience. Paralysis plays into usefulness.

You don’t, imho, have to always be the dps/healer with the highest numbers, but it would be good to have a consistent “class fantasy” regardless of what spec you’re in.

I’d also suggest that each spec gets a summon for a celestial; Xuen, Niuzao, or Chi JI, and that they do something relevant to that spec. You’re still preserving the feel of the class, and all specs have a button for “summon my celestial” - it just adapts to your needs. Niuzao’s equivalent is probably that nice elemental that shamans get - an emergency offtank that can be healed and kept up for quite some time if the healer is on form. This might even be a talent choice, such that players who find they don’t need their specific celestial might swap it for higher utility, e.g. healers might want some open-world dps help, or tanks might be able to throw out a raid heal.

Also make WW able to use staves again GDI!

We don’t need more mobility…
This is what we need imo.
make Dragon punch base line and add in some strong single target talents in the last tier.
Make Mistweaver vivify viable in raids with stronger reviewing mist spread or more charges.
Fix the clunky RSK reset on blackout kick with rising mist, feels really bad spamming 3x tiger palm and get nothing back.
Make healing elixir base line.

These are just some of the suggestions on top of my mind, problem with this is by applying these changes will make us op in some settings while still be OK in others.

That’s why Blizzard need to balance abilities separately between raid and 5 man and solo…

It’s not hard, just add something like “If you are in range of 10 allies reviewing mist has a chance to duplicate to 1-2 extra players (scaled)
