Hello, since the monk community refuses to answer, i’ll ask here.
How are monk healers this patch? 
I’m currently playing R sham and wondering if it’s any worth re-rolling? My main focus is M+.

From what i know its far from meta, strugles a lot with various things, and probably bigest issue is geting into pugs.
But in a dedicated group it can work, like everything else. Especially if your group doesnt run ww/brm and is physical heavy.
Anyway, idk whats your m+ range is, everything can pug 15s, and above, its about players, but as i said, with monk u most likely will have quite hard time to get in groups since they have poor reputation, most likely for a reason ( i dont play monk neither do i play with them as healers so dont ask for specific reasons.)

Overhyped, unless they scale better with higher item level gear.
My monk is not really high ilvl, but imo the buffs were not enough. At least the storming affix was nerfed, so there’s almost nothing stopping you from fistweaving, but you won’t do comparable to hpala dmg.

Monk is doing fine and tbh the Pala damage is only needed in super high keys or right now when people are undergeared. If you like Mw just play it😊
Had some mega good monks in the +15 range. Dreaded having them in my group in 9.0, don’t any more! Play a hunter so love having them now. All of them have done 1.5k+ dps which is fine, looks like they struggle at AoE heals though, had some ropey fire tormenteds.
Aside numbers as monk design does not change you have to take into consideration:
- You have to manage your mana really really well
- It’s not really a king of healer DPS
- Lacks impactful utility and cooldowns … aside of Revival
But then:
- Relatively easy raid healing even when spread and casting while moving
- Very easy mechanics:
- In M+ if tank is taking a beating you just channel soothing mist and spam vivify on GCD as instacasts
- In raids you do a lot of Essence font and talented AoE without targeting
If you have a guild you will be fine, most M+ PUGs as well but at some point you will find groups requiring utility (or also damage) of a Shaman or Paladin. The higher you aim the less pure healer (MW, HPriest) will matter.
There’s RoP, which is one of the best utility spells in the game.
They get leg sweep as well don’t they? And 5% melee damage is amazing.

Not usable in raids and situational good in M+ so it heavily depends on content you want to do.

mistweaving was unique and alot of fun (i started bfa prepatch) but to do it right means to stay in meele range which is hard for many due to alot of buttons
many used macros for that which changed the abilitys if you either target an friendly or enemy target / mouseover raidframe
but now in 9.1 i (and basically anyone) stopped maining it because noone wants to play with a mistweaver if not your friends or guild
noone wants mistweaver in keys and noone wants to play arena with a mistweaver anymore
mistweaver arena was usually played with arms/dk but all the arms ditched us for paladins
i were only able to join lfg keys @night when priests sleep (9.05)
all this is because the spec changes since the “father of monks” chris kaleki (creator/designer( left the company last year
they gave everything the spec had to holy paladin after that

Btw the mistweaver community switched from the wow forums to mysticall’s discord only there you find real answers

This. Afaik he’s the only one who streams exclusively mw.
It’s absolutely usable in raids. It’s used to control or group adds.
They have ring / stun / incap / decent external / teleport / amazing movement and strong defensives.

Yes, although perceived meta may hurt that (like having a battle rez or something). In BfA monks were fine but druid got to a meme point.
Most people who are interested in doing m+ as their main content have engineering to solve that, and either way if 1 person in the group doesn’t have a CR that’s not the end of the world.
