Monk Names...Given?

I’ve been wondering if when your character trains as a monk, do they get given a choice of a new name? I know this sounds weird but I feel like it would make sense somehow.

It doesn’t in the slightest.

Chinese people are given the chance to change their name when moving to Western countries because their Eastern names can be considered confusing for some people.
That is the only possible comparison I can think of.

Many races take a last name or a new last name if they accomplish some kind of feat, the pandaren take names that most often fit their characteristics so I am sure that most would consider taking a new name to show their newly acquired strengths.
But there are those races without last names which would be making it odd to take one without a really good reason. Draeneis and trolls are the first to pop to mind where this applies.

The peak of serenity has many non-pandaren Masters with pandaren names. It isn’t unreasonable that they were given or adopted them as part of their seniority as monks.

It’s a very isoated practice and the only example that we see of it happening but not the only example of a person of one race getting a name in the language of another. Khadgar and Medivh are dwarf and thalassian words for “trust” and “keeper of secrets” respectively. Varian was named Lo’Gosh in slavery after the tauren name for Goldrinn, the wolf god.
