hey guyz, im coming back to wow becouse really, theres no other game like this for me .im a casual player(lfr, normal raids, mythic, bgs, rbgs) i have a monk and a paladin around level 100, but i want to level from scratch becouse i dont do it since wod and there are changes in terms of dongeons and i miss to level again.
my question is if i want to play all 3 specs of the class (mainly dps for pvp, healer pve, but also tank ) witch class im going to have more fun?
i would take palladin as my first choice becouse it seems more simple, but the thing is that they have low mobility as a ret pvp and monk have lots of it.
i dont know how they are actualy performing and how fun they are ate max level so im posting here so you can advice me.
i will probably level both of them but not in a row and after reach max level with one i intend to make it my main, atleast for a while.
This forum is filled with questions like these. Fun is subjective. What you think is fun, isn’t always fun to someone else, or vice versa. You can try a class trial perhaps, but keep in mind Azerite Traits can have pretty solid impact at times.
Personally I find monk far more fun than paladin, for all 3 specs. They’re not really that hard to do decent dps with, but the monk has a much higher skillcap, atleast as dps. They both perform about the same in raids, but monks are generally better for m+. Paladin might be alright if you don’t play alot, as it’s a 3-4 button static rotation that’s simple to execute. But that’ll get boring long term most likely.
Play what you feel like to play. It’s always a risk. Look at gameplay on youtube or twitch perhaps. The game is decently alt friendly if you have a that has unlocked the neck rep gate, honorbound flight points thing etc.
Monk plays like a pinball machine. Even when we aren’t at our best, we still feel fast and fun, and it is really hard to adapt to a new alt once you’e had a monk main.
I can only really speak for monks, but I have been researching paladin/shaman alts, so take this post in that context.
Monk healing output is solid, potentially the best, gear-for-gear. Mobility is high, but you do need to plant your feet to cast anything meaningful, especially for small groups. Paladins with the glimmer trait are currently offering a “melee healer” gameplay, that used to belong to monks, and we hope will one day return. Paladins losing glimmer is probably more likely than monks losing their fistweaving talents, even if said talents are underperforming right now. Paladins are distinctly less mobile, but when cornered, have immunity and heavy armour and shields.
Right now, paladin tanking seems to be underrated. Opinions of people who make articles about it are actually quite high. Brewmaster tanking is midrange, neither amazing nor terrible.
Monk dps is bouncy and fast, but has pauses every 10 GCDs or so where you’re just going to have to wait for resources before you can press more buttons. Paladin dps is… effective, but kind of slow. The paladin forum is full of bored retridins writing complaints between button presses.
TLDR: Glimmerdin is currently shining, but may vanish overnight due to traits. Prot is solid, ret is dull. Monks are decent in most specs, with some minor annoyances, and a lot of “Can’t catch me!” moments.
