Monk spells and mechanics you miss?

Proper Tigereye Brew for Windwalker. I also liked Healing Elixir better when it used to trigger “passively” on all your drinking-related spells, such as the Energy one, Nimble brew (which I also miss), all that.

As a Miswteaver…damn.
I miss being able to instantly cast a healing spell after initiating soothing mist because no GCD to screw me over.
I miss having stances.
I miss having Chi as a resource, and spending it to generate proper Mana Tea, and not the generic, boring iteration they gave us in Legion.

…used to feel great forcing people to eat a FoF, a bit like how we’re forced to eat gpyros & bolts whilst perma rooted, poly’d, fear’d etc.

15s Paralysis
…apparently too op as it stops casters casting for 3s
(…but stopping melee melee’ing with insane slows, spammable roots, fears, poly’s, cyclones, hex’s, MC’s, disorients, horrifieds, micro roots, roots that don’t break on dmg, knockbacks, frost traps, RoF’s, Vortex’s, food that slows melee, melee’ing own spells slowing them …is perfectly legit).

2s FSK
…there are other specs who can outrun WW so why we needed a mobility nerf is beyond me.
Steering FSK was great too.

25s Transcendence
…used to be part of my rotation switching between targets & covering flags (doubly good with a built in heal).
Now it’s kind of reserved for ‘emergency use only’ & even then it’s situational -knocked off a cliff? just port back up! (knockbacks on 30s cd, port on 45s …thanks).

100% Karma baseline
…popping your biggest, strongest defensive & dying in 2s just feels ridiculous.

Healing Elixirs
…caught in a perpetual stunlock? Healing elixirs had your back.
tbf, Control the Mists / Reverse Harm aren’t bad replacements for otherwise weaving in heals.

GCD
…is just painful.
Can’t react as quick as we used to (using port to break a fall / port to safety / incap freecasters etc) & we squeeze in fewer abilities if&when we do finally connect to specs who can perma spam cc’s.

SotWL, port heals, karma heals were great additions to WW, damn shame they scrapped them.

MoP fistweaver after it was removed i lost all interest to this class.

Chi and the 50% extra haste MW monks got from haste on their gear made haste stacking ultra fun (I know, suboptimal, but crit was boring).
Sure, a purging shaman/priest/hunter/dk will f you up, but when there was none around, I enjoyed seeing those Enveloping Mist crits every 0.6 secs or so.

I do miss last patch of WoD MW healing style with the tier set, that just should have been baked into the spec somehow to fix dungeon healing problem with the spec, at least thats what i thought back then.
I cant be bothered to play my monk for very long ever since.

One thing i will never miss was stance dancing. It was terrible especially since it had a gcd and you couldnt do healing in one of them and no proper dps in the other limiting you so much compared to what was in MoP.
But i didnt really play in MoP otherwise.
I miss the faster gcd for monk, not just WW. Thats about it for mw.

For BM i miss also the WoD version i played. Old expel harm and guard plus dizzying haze. New monk was a disappointment compared.

Ww well i actually enjoyed playing the fluid legion version of it
Bfa version is terrible and not played it much so i guess i miss legion WW.

Sort of miss the way it was set up in MoP really. Still preferred the way the class was back then to how it is now.

The tools that were available saved me a few times in situations having to deal with 2-3 alliance in a pvp battleground before winning at the end. And also for taking down a boss. Had to take down 3-4% after everyone else died in LFR but, healing elixirs and the chi healing spheres helped in that personal best I’ve had playing monk class. And it was WW as well so, best time ever in that expansion.

Not a fan of it being simplified though, monk just feels like any other DPS now, rather get chi back and have that difference once more. Classes should be different with a few OP’s here and there in any class.

So yeah, give me back the mists version of the monk and I’ll be happy, still play the class, but that’s where I liked it best.

I miss WoD MW so much. Nothing has come close to the feeling when you got your reset procs on Renewing Mist and had it up on all 20 people before raid damage came out. The spec had an odd aggressive quality to it, feeling very fast paced, had a very good rhythm on gaining and spending Chi when you healed during heavy damage when Revival was on cd and to top it all off it wasn’t that taxing on your mana due to Mana Tea.
I wasn’t too fond of stance dancing but it wasn’t too bad either. But yeah, I really miss that. As well as Guard for BrM. Bring me back my ridiculous big shield.

I miss the MoP ww monk it felt fun to play and what i miss the most is the ability have and wield staff/polearm as ww monk.

I already hated ww in wod but removing ability use staff and weapons being now only stat sticks killed the class for me.

WW: Fire blossom, Strike of the Windlord artifact ability, Jab so I can use my weapons again, Flying Serpent kick pre-nerf - it was untouched from its introduction literally 7 years ago idk why they went and nerfed it in BFA.
It’s like they really wanted to hammer home the fact that DHs are the new and improved Monk with much better mobility, damage and faster gameplay.

MW: Chi, baseline fistweaving/Eminence, MoP Mana Tea, baseline Serpent Statue, Jab Jab Uplift, Renewing Mists blanketing raids and chaining Uplifts to cover the raid in green swirls, 3x Chi Torpedos that healed the raid as you torpedo’d through them, Dematerialise.
Everything unique about MW has been removed and the spec has been watered down and homogenised to be like the other healers since Legion. I hate how the spec plays currently with the dominance of Essence Font and I hope they remove the spell in Shadowlands. Upwelling talent is bland and uninspiring.
MoP was the best iteration of MW in terms of fun gameplay (not numbers). I absolutely despised the clunkiness of a fistweaving stance in WoD and I hope it never returns.

I have to admit every release it’s almost as if they’re trying to replace rogues lol.

Monk came out in MoP and lots of rogues were like “we have been replaced” now they’re made another fast paced leather dual wielder and now that’s the replacement to monks haha

Blizzard Are overpiling leather dps by miles.

It’s a shame rly monks such a fun class, even in BFA I can easily enjoy a monk. But they’re continously ignored by blizzard,

I miss MoP WW as an entirety. After they borked GCDs and made the spec feel like a clunky 1 2 3 DPS class.

I just started playing a brewmaster monk. I like the mobility and high APM, but the spell/skill graphics and sound effects are really weak. :frowning:

Anything pre-bfa.
