Hey all I’m looking at an alt but potentially a new main, always played Paladin…
Is monk a viable pick for a casual player? I’m not fussed about group chances or DPS charts as I run premades in all content and we’re not a serious bunch ^^ id just like a class that isn’t super steep to learn with the little play time!

It’s my main, I personally love the class and the play style, the mobility and the kit overall is quite good. A lot of other monks will complain about the class getting no love and being bugged and lacking but I personally think the class is amazing and I can’t really find anything other than a specific bug that annoys me, other than that it’s pure joy and not difficult to learn at all imo.
I have enjoyed every moment so far so hopefully that bodes well!

I enjoy all specs of monk, really. I don’t think you’ll find it hard to play if you level one.
WW’s mastery takes some thinking (do not spam one button!) but you’ll get into the habit by the time you’ve reached max level anyway. MW’s healing does massively benefit from a custom UI to track where your Renewing Mists are at, and understanding that this one little HoT is your big healing mechanism is key. Brewmaster… mostly just works. You spam ironskin rather a lot, but you’re still entertainingly mobile for a tank, and kiting fights are your speciality.
We have our ups and downs (and bugs), and we certainly have our naysayers, but SL is actually looking pretty solid for Brewmaster and WW. Maybe a little mediocre on MW… maybe.
