Monks started to replace DH

Hello again guys,

I have noticed a tendency that 10+ keys already started replacing dh with second rogue and if not preferably monk.

I have never played monk so I can only guess that we are pretty even but they obviously have something we do not ? What it is ?

Depends of the comp. If the group runs with melee heavy char, monk is best, because they give a 5% debuff on physical hit to the target.
DH gives 5% magical debuff. DH is best paired with casters.

They are just doing it because they are seeing mdi folks doing it while not clearly understanding the reasons.

In the MDI they are using 1 monk due to the 5% physical dmg, and since in the MDI the most valuable tanker is Warrior, healer druid and dps Rogue, this means that the 5% melee will actually be a good buff.

Now, randoms choosing to do it? it just doesn’t make a sense because they’ll never really utilize its potential.

Its another one of the “if they do it i’ll do it just because i wanna look informed and kewl”

It’s mostly the 5% physical dmg buff, but don’t forget how good Ring of Peace can be.

And since Rogue is busted, Monk is better.

Rogues getting nerfed in 8.2 and blizz looking at how ranged get targeted more by mechs which should lead to ranged and the 5% magical dmg being even more desirable

Yea poor ranged, look at that Uu’nat world first Mythic kill it’s only melees in that comp

Lol yeah that probably why, throwing the ranged a bone. I did mean in m+ but didn’t say, ranged is usally better for raids but yh that fight is crazy.

You’re joking, right? Uldir and BoD were ranged heavy raids too.

Depends! G;Huun, Mytrax were more range friendly than melee in my opinion. Taloc as well. BFA is 50:50! Jaina is better for ranges.

That’s what I was saying. And you’re forgetting Fetid, too. It was absolute hell for melees.

And no, BFA has been extremely ranged tilted.

Raids usually are but m+ is so much easier as melee

For DH Fetig was alright (at least on heroic). I even top the dps on it (was my favorite). I mean with better position will be really friendly to DHs. Taloc, Mytr, Ghuun though were horrible. Almost the same dps as tank. For BFA, you are right Sir! It is really range heavy - conclave, Jaina, meka and many others.

M+ is a gimmick. Raids are the experience that they invest most in. I really couldn’t care less about what’s OP in M+.

Anything is alright on heroic. On mythic Fetid punished you for having a lot of melees. You had an AoE on you that did a lot of damage to others, so you wanted as few melee as possible. Same story for Mythrax.

Ghuun wasn’t melee friendly either. Guilds were running 4+ Warlocks.

Apart from mother I cannot see melee friendly boss from Uldir. At least from first 4/5.

Mythrax only until they fixed that mind control mechanics. After that you wanted as many melees as possible.

That was like 2 months in.
