I thought of writing a post to share an idea I had concerning the MoP Challenge Mode sets.
As someone who used to play back in that era but had no group full of friends to attempt those challenges, I feel that bringing the challenges back in the game will give me, and everyone in the same situation as I described, as well as people who did not play back then, the chance to earn these beautiful transmogrification sets.
In my opinion, these sets are some of the most unique, most detailed sets that exist in the game, and it is a shame for the players to not be able to enjoy them.
Concerning the brining them back part, I have a few ideas on how that can be done. First of all, they should not be brought back as part of the Blizzard Store. In my opinion again, the best thing about cosmetics is the challenge to earn them, which makes you feel better when wearing them after doing so. So, here are a few ideas:
During the MoP timewalking event, have the chance to enter those exact same challenge mode dungeons.
With the release of MoP Classic, have the chance to enter those exact same challenge mode dungeons, and if one manages to overcome the challenges, they will earn the corresponding set according to their class, both for MoP Classic and Retail.
With the release of MoP classic, limited time event in both Classic and Retail, that lets players attempt the challenge mode dungeons.
As you can see, each of the above three different ideas servers a different purpose.
First one, is an always returning chance to earn the sets.
Second one, is a long-time chance to earn the sets, as it will span the whole living time of MoP Classic.
Third one, is a one-off chance to earn the sets, as the event will be a limited time one, happening as a celebration of the release of MoP Classic.
Concluding, as mentioned above, these sets are among the most unique and detailed in the game, and it’s unfortunate that players currently can’t fully enjoy them., and they are lost forever, considering that many accounts that own them may have stopped playing the game too.
Nah, some things are meant to be kept rare, just admire those who has it.
If people had the idea that what they do and earn isn’t respected, people wont have motivation to do those things. Don’t cry over spilled milk as they say. If everything in the game were accessible there would be no point in doing it.
If MoP classic happens to be a thing, then no problem. But not on retail
It’s not that deep my friend. It’s a simple cosmetic thing, that gives no extra advantage to whoever owns it. Some people sat down and spent time and designed those sets, why should they be removed forever?
This specific topic is a hard one to discuss in any forums, because people who own the sets just vote against something like this happening. I’m pretty sure, if one could see the bigger picture, more people would agree on the return of the sets rather than not.
The gatekeeping on cosmetic items really is unnecessary. Also, who said they should be “accessible”? I am asking for the exact same challenge, it’s not that Blizzard is going to hand them freely to me.
If it’s a “simple” cosmetic, why bother doing a thread about it? Just get something else then. You said it’s beautiful, and now it’s just simple cosmetics.
And it’s not “removed forever” just because you don’t have it.
And no, gatekeeping on anything is healthy as it produces motivation.
Also, who said they should be “accessible”? I am asking for the exact same challenge
Your behaviour is exactly the same as the behaviour of people who had the original longboi, that when they saw you approaching them to use the auction house, they quickly dismounted. Look who had the last laugh now. These sets will eventually make it back into the game, we are closer than you think, MoP classic is the perfect time. I just presented some ideas on how they could come back. When they do come back, I will come back to this post and ask you how you feel about it.
