More Class Self-Expression, please

I have a suggestion that I think could improve immersion without affecting gameplay balance.

One thing I feel is still missing in WoW is class self-expression.

To be fair, Blizzard has already made huge improvements in this area. The new talent trees were a fantastic addition, and Hero Talents are a great example of giving players more class fantasy. I especially like that some Hero Talents even change spell visuals.

However, I still feel there is room to go further.

One relatively inexpensive way to do that would be expanding the Glyph system. Even a handful of new cosmetic glyphs every expansion would make a huge difference for immersion.

The best example for me is the Priest class.

Priest fits almost every race in Warcraft, but visually they all use very similar Holy effects. As a Night Elf Priest, my spells look like generic Holy Light rather than the power of Elune. A cosmetic glyph that changes Holy visuals into moonlight or Elune-themed magic would make the class fantasy so much stronger.

I have a similar issue with Shadow Priest.

I’d like to play DPS on my Night Elf Priest, but Shadow Priest is visually centered around Void and Shadow. From an RP and immersion perspective, it would be amazing if cosmetic glyphs allowed us to replace those visuals with moon magic, Light, or even Elune’s power where it makes lore sense.

Another good example is Hunters.

I really like that Marksmanship Hunters can choose Hero Talents such as Sentinel or Dark Ranger, but I’d love to see even more cosmetic differences between those fantasies. A few additional animations or visual effects could go a long way.

I think WoW already has one of the strongest class fantasies in any MMO. I’d simply love to see more ways for players to express their version of that class through purely cosmetic customization.

More Glyphs would be a fantastic step in that direction.

I really like the idea of being able to customize spell appearance.

Also. All Races could pick other Races casting/attack animations. And appearances. And remove all limits from Transmogs. Endless amount of expression.

They have mentioned in an interview at some point that it is an idea they are interested in but they haven’t even gotten round to giving us all the classes (Paladin, Druid, Shaman we’re waaaiiiitiiiing!) and warbound reps so I am not holding my breath. Wish the mini patches gave us those sorts of things instead of the horror we currently have.

How about NO.

Has been brought up multiple times over the past 3 years. Blizzard said “they want to use the glyph system more” and haven’t acted on it ever since tbh.

That’s not possible from a technical PoV. At least regarding animations. The rigs need to be 1:1 compatible, else you will have some scuffed animations that just look broken.

Would be something.
I took up inscription because I wanted to be able to write ghost fade, which I already have but I wanted to write it also, but I haven’t really found stuff like that. Only got the regular things so far.
So could be that scribes could write all kinds of cool effects then. And that would really help with expressing the fantasy of the character! Hope they get something together.

Edit: I got it. Don’t you worry, Heramaar; old Vættri’s as crafty as they come!

Remember those coming out every so often? Those were the days.
But yeah, it’d be nice to see more flavour and colours. Deactivate them in PVP if you have to to prevent various visual issues (ones less obvious than the apparent observer issue).

I’d like something akin to glyph of the necromancer for warlock. Have undead as pets.

I’ve been desperate for this for ages.
Give my troll priest/shaman Loa effects instead of Light and Elemental.
Give my Tauren Paladin Sun powers
Give Mag’Har orcs ancestor based priest/shaman effects

The list goes on and on

Use your abandoned Glyphs system more, Blizz!

It’s right there! Your window of opportunity! A definitive answer to the question of more immersive cosmetics! Use it!

AaAaAaAaaaaaaa!

Exactly! They should definitely do that!

Rigs are customizable too. Its just a lot of rework and time.

Yep. Hard agree.

Yes. But if Blizzard management sees it as “financial viable” is a completely different thing.

In a world like this, it is all about money. Sadly.

Number 1 reason retail WoW sucks bro. Management does not give devs enough time and freedom. And all their PR and HR and Woke teams need to get fired. They have NOTHING to do with the actual product.

The rainbows are turning the dev teams gay!11!!!1!!1!+!

Get a grip mate.

Im being 100% realistic and serious. There is weird woke movement inside their company. Anyone else who disagrees with them is “enemy”. WoW needs more balls.

Here you go:

I raised this topic to improve immersion, not to read about some political whines.

Unfortunately, it’s true…but personally idk what Blizz wants, as they don’t like take easy wins too…like they could give us playable Amani, so they would have easy financial win, but they don’t want to for some reason.

I want a glyph for to turn water ele into a Kirin Tor apprentice or something.
Gimme that!
What do you mean you personally can’t?!

But yeah, Glyphs are an easy win but probably has to go through a weird number of hurdles.
