In Season of Discovery, there is an increased demand for crafting materials and Idols/Scarabs. One of our goals in this phase is to make idols and scarabs mean more to progression, such as being required for Reputation rings and their upgrades, but their acquisition rates have been lower than we hoped. We like making them available to players through dungeons or previous raid tiers, so with hotfixes that are now live:
Tarnished Undermine Real drops in Molten Core and Blackwing Lair increased to 3 per boss (was 1).
Damaged Undermine Supply Crates cost increased to 10 (was 5), and will now always contain some of the new Ahn’Qiraj crafting reagents, Scarabs, Idols from the Ruins or an Idol from the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.
Since there are consumables that require these items, we’d like to see players getting them from the Undermine Supply Crates to allow the market to be more accessible.
Please note: The above are ‘new’ boxes. Any old boxes purchased will not contain the new materials.
Once again, it surprises me how close they are to making the right decisions, but fall short at the finish line. This was close to the right decision; instead, they should have kept the price at 5 per box. Having the Mc drop to 3 is a good idea, but BWL should have only stayed at 2. After that, they should have increased the drop rate from bosses in dungeons, which aren’t run as often and could help new players get gear. Final bosses in BRD/Scholomance/Dire Maul should drop 3 (5 if there is a player under level 58). It would help bring life into helping new players and gearing up people’s alts.
What people want: more crafting materials to gear up missing trinkets or alts.
What people get: idols idols idols idols.
Just so you know only a few people grinded the rep for scarab lord, and therefore this change is completely useless to try out alts and different builds… At least you tried. Just put back the PTR vendors; that would make everyone happier.
while id like to say this has been a good addition. things like hive thistle are still abysmal in the loot drop rate. 15 boxes got 2 hive thistle from them. only outweighed by rthe fact im getting items i can just sell to offset the cost. So yes. they drop but not so much items that are of any use to the majority id say. havent even delved into new flasks yet
It be an endless rat race mon. Every other week a new big trinket is released; more coins and rewards are given out; and by the time Berny collects a good set a new and much better one is here.
This game has become an absolute rat race, people are playing like it’s their duty to finish it as quickly as possible. Going forward they should just ditch raids entirely imho. just 5-Man Dungeons and content in the open world.
Oh well, a Man can dream…
Could you maybe consider having tarnished undermine reals dropping from battlegrounds aswell?
Right now there are little to none BG queues, especially after people have reached r14, which. This would be some insentive for people to play battlegrounds.
