[More testing done] Anyone having annoying FPS drops/stutters?

In combat, FPS is stuttering and getting very annoying in some areas.

The first couple of quests in Hallowfall with the wall and all the swarmers flying over it was quite bad for drops. But by far these dungeons are the worst culprit.

[Update]
Been running follower dungeons in the Rookery to test this and it seems like FPS drops permanently after entering combat and won’t increase back to the normal level until you lower a graphics setting and click apply. But the FPS will drop AGAIN even if you leave the setting on the lower option. You have to increase the setting and lower it back again to fix the FPS.

Tested with and without addons. This is really annoying and I’m not sure what the cause of this could be.

Not that I have noticed(Ryzen 5600x, 6700 xt)
What are your PC(CPU, GPU) specs and on what graphical settings are you playing?

RTX 3080, 12600k

All on low/medium

No its been perfectly smooth all the way. Actually think this one is lower on the graphical requirements. But I play all maxed out generally (minus raytraced shadows)

Rookery dungeon drops my fps from 120+ to around 80-90 in the area before the first boss fighting the mobs.

Hmm with those specs you should be able to even play on high(presuming you are not on 4k) without a hitch.

Check your addons. Especially weakauras. Speaking from experience back in DF Had some old weak auras which was causing my WoW to outright freeze and making the computer unusable(only way to fix it - hard reset button). After I completely removed weak auras, the problem fixed it self.

Not saying that you got the same issue but don’t underestimate what a faulty addon and especially faulty old weak aura Lua script can do…

I’ve removed all my addons and only added back ElvUI, Details, Plater, and WeakAuras now. It did help, but there’s still very noticable stuttering. I’m talking about with framerates above 100, are you locked at 60? It may not be noticable to you

Idk. I haven’t experienced any problems, but then again I play on everything except Windows lol. MacOS and Linux x both have worked perfectly. In fact the Mac version has become insane. 120 FPS constant at 4k nearly maxed out… on a laptop draining 60W. Pretty impressive not gonna lie.

I am on 1440p, graphic settings 9 base and raid&bg 6 and I have a stable 142-144 FPS. Lowest I had was 110ish when in a dungeon tank pulled pretty much everything and we had an arcane mage who went nuts with his purple spell effects.

Ok, I’ve done even more testing with this and there is 100% something going on with the game.

I’ve been using the Rookery dungeon for testing. The circular area before the first boss after you take the Gryphon.

It literally does not matter what graphics setting I use, the game will be at a locked 120fps and as soon as I start combat with a trash pack it will drop to around 80fps. The framerate wont even climb back up to 120 after combat ends.

Now I’ve noticed that if I open the graphics settings and lower water quality to fair OR lower the 3 view distance settings, the framerate shoots back up to 120. But if I leave these settings after lowering them and enter combat again the FPS will drop and not rise back up after combat?!

I’ve tried this with both no addons and with addons. I have no idea what else is needed to show this is some issue on the game’s end. Not sure if it’s some kind of memory leak or what. But what I described is definitely happening.

FPS drops in combat and never rises back up - can be on low or high graphics settings and it makes no difference except if you change the settings after exiting combat. It’s so strange. I can replicate this as many times as I like, it literally just seems like the FPS gets stuck at a lower value until I change a graphics setting.
