Most fun Ranged DPS?

Currently i am torn between Shadow and Balance.

I played them extensively on the PTR…
and just when i decided on Shadow as it felt quite a bit stronger overall… the last patchnotes took away this difference…

The only thing about Balance that i don’t like is that their main offensive CD is on a 3 minutes timer, with no option to make it any smaller… i like how the CD can work, but 3 mintes is just to long…

So whats your favorite DPS choice for shadowlands? And why?

Hunter.

It’s my main for years. I loved it. Since pet can tank and I range it.

Frost mage. Really fun to play, many different builds (orb build, cleave, ST, CD build). Very easy to world quests, with the amount of slows. Looking to be amazing in SL for everything. Most likely will be meta in M+ so very quick queues, and raid invites.

Covenants are pretty close to wach other in terms of DPS, so you’re not pressured to go one covenant. The legendaries look very solid too, with a good variety for what ever content you play. 10/10 recommend frost mage if you want an easier life, with less queues.

Fun is a very personal perspective.

The only ranged I remotely enjoy playing is a hunter.

For me is fire mage. Pem pem pem!!!

Mage has the most enjoyable rotation when fighting a target dummy.
Warlock has the most enjoyable kit for being a solo player.
Hunter has the most enjoyable experience in group content due to mobility.
Balance has an enjoyable multi-dot experience in BG’s.
Elemental has a fun RNG visually satisfying experience.

I don’t play priest.

My point is every spec has a fun element to it. I don’t think there is such a thing as the most enjoyable.
I enjoy Hunter and Warlock, some people find them very dull.

You can get a Legendary that grants you 9 seconds of that CD every time you spend 300 Astral power. That will scale well with haste.

Thats why i am mostly interested in what makes people’s choices fun for them?

I am in the same boat as you but it was between 3 for me. Elemental, shadow priest and boomkin but boomkin just does not feel right to me on ptr the rotation feels clunky. So now its between ele and shadow both are fun and both have nice rotations so a good bit of advice is look at their other specs.

Shadow has great visuals and the sound effects really add to the feel which is why its my current front runner. I am a bit of a weirdo though and seeing how shadow is like top tier now kind of puts me off a little since every man and his dog will roll it. My original intention was to go disc so thats on the cards still lol.

Personally I’m terrible with casters and having to stand still all the time. Cast times drive me nuts so for me it’s the hunter because I can move and do stuff. Hunter is the closest thing to a melee for me xD

It’ll always be hunter for me, i simply cant stand the lack of mobility on other ranged classes. I strongly dislike being locked in place by a casting timer, Hunter can do pretty much everything while actively moving around.

Hunter because their mobility is insane

Absolutely love mage (all specc) :woman_mage: and did just dust off my s-priest and having a blast with it  I love the casters animations and the fiction of those characters. Think about why you would like to play a class and than try it

Not Hunter.

Arcane Mage. I will be managing a total of three come Shadowlands. :ok_hand: Aesthetics-wise Boomkin Druid is pretty in my opinion.

If you like pets? Hunter

If you like magic? Mage

For me it’s the Affliction Warlock and the Frost Mage.

Yes arcane mage is a blast (excuse the pun) and actually highly mobile if you play it the right way. It’s also very fun in PvP constantly teleporting all over the place.

Other notable ranged specs for me I’ve found fun (no idea if SL changes this)

Affliction Lock. Careful management required but pays off if executed correctly. Oh the numbers! So many numbers!

Marksman Hunter is worth playing for the trueshot opening burst alone. Massively satisfying.

I also like Frost Mage quite a lot.

I’ve never tried a balance druid, and BFA ele just felt too…clunky to me. Not very satisfying for the amount of work I was going to In an Icefury build. Seemed very mediocre.
