What is, in your own opinion, the most fun spec of each of the classes, and why?
This is not a meta-list, just a list what feels the most fun to play.
I’ll start:
Pala: Holy because I like the fast paced and arcade- style way of healing Warrior: Fury, hands down. It’s again fast paced and feels bursty. Druid: need advice / not played yet Shaman: need advice / not played yet DH: Havoc for the same reasons as the fury warrior Priest: Class as a whole is kinda meh but if I had to choose I’d say shadow? Monk: need advice / not played yet Rogue: need advice / not played yet (in last expansions at least) hunter: 100% BM due to the fast pace and spiky damage. No experience in MM/Surv
Mstrong textage: Fire, again due to the spiky and proc-fishing gameplay I like DK: Need advice / not played yet Warlock: Destro
The classes that say ‘Need advice’ are ones that I’m interested in playing so I’m really hoping people can give me some insight.
Fury Warrior: Easy, durable and awesome 2hx2 Tmog
Ret Paladin: Easy, love the lore, awesome Tmog action
BM Hunter: Easy and you have an awesome pet/pets for life. Also I like to watch movies on second monitor
Shadow Priest: Only because of lore. They feel very weird compared to “back in the day”.
Balance Druid: Like the playstyle
Enh is fun imo albeit certainly one of the squishiest melee spec in the game. Your entire toolkit interacts with itself & the more enemies in melee range the more ST and AOE dmg you deal & the smoother your rotation becomes (The amount of procs you get depends on how many hits you land… And your abilities allow you to hit all enemies in melee)
I guess most would pick Ele tho, also great but i’m more of a melee player.
What disappoints me the most isn’t necessarily that havoc is awesome (fast gameplay but fairly bare bones) but rather than Vengeance feels terrible to play imo.
You use abilities, barely see any change & only slowly mow down your enemies with dots… Last time I checked my best dps ability even in ST was immolation aura (got the conduit for it tho, which helps) which is honestly depressing at this point.
I guess it feels better if you actually tank for your party instead of being solo in the open world but still, it just doesn’t feel right to play imo.
As someone who mostly plays tank classes: DK is by baseline the squishiest - but will be competitive in all content on all levels with a (very very slightly) higher skill-requirement than other tanks. In return for the little amount of extra-effort required, you receive a little bit of extra exploitability of certain mechanics or situations.
Also, you are slow. But it matters much less than people think - you also have to move much less than other tanks.
Well, I have not tried all the specs of rogue yet. But I am enjoying Outlaw a lot. I sneak around, attack my enemies and then stun them for so long with kidney shot that I manage to kill them by the time they are unstunned.
I love picking pockets and sneaking around. I have that grappling hook that I love for roleplay as well. In fact Outlaw lends itself very nicely towards roleplay I feel.
Other classes I honestly do not know so much about.
OK… so if I say I love playing Fury Warrior & you hate it, how is that a better contribution…??
Threads like this have only ONE answer… play what YOU find fun.
EDIT:
No, I don’t evaluate WHY I have fun doing what I do… I just do.
I don’t pay your subscription to be able to tell you what you should have fun doing… that’s why your subscription exists… for YOU to decide.
No it’s not? If you have actually read my post I was A: interested in why people find certain specs fun, because I’d like to know and find these things interesting, and B: to get some advice on certain classes and why other people find them fun to play.
What’s there not to get?
Good for you I guess. The more complex humans in here actually do and can say exactly why they find certain things in life fun. That’s how people find related stuff that they might and usually do find entertaining. Oh I loved book/game/spec (in this case) x because it had y elements I really liked, book/game/spec z also has those, I might check it out. Not too much of a stretch, really.
Going to do the ones you need advice on. It’s just my opinion so you may feel differently
Druid: I’d say Balance or Restoration. I don’t play tanks and I feel Feral plays a little clunky
Shaman: I love Enhance. It’s not in a good spot in Shadowlands sadly , but I love the fantasy and feel of the class/spec. Seeing as you enjoy Fury warrior, I’d say you’d enjoy Enhancement. Restoration is strong and Elemental is pretty good too.
Monk: Brewmaster>Mistweaver>WW for me. Brewmaster feels unique and funny to play. Being a drunk monk donking people on the head is always a laugh. Mistweaver was really fun but it’s apparently terrible in SL . A lot of people enjoy WW and it’s really strong atm but I’m not a massive fan of the animations bar dragon punch.
Rogue: You’ll probably enjoy Outlaw. It’s unique, with some RNG factors from roll the bones but can be very fun and quirky. If you get to the point where Enhance / Fury warrior / Havoc DH are all feeling somewhat similar. I’d say go Subtlety, takes a while to get into the spec but stays true to more of the rogue theme. Assassination is safe choice , but the spec is simple and easy. Whether this is good or bad depends on you
DK: Unholy, Unholy and Unholy. Frost feels one dimensional and doesn’t have enough flavour imo. Again, I don’t really tank so cannot comment on blood but. Unholy feels unique and great and I love the theme and fantasy of it.
What content are you interested in doing ?
Are you competitive or more casual?
I would offer that my having High Functioning Asperger’s makes me highly complex… in that my potential to overthink things has the possibility to STOP me doing them.
The spec. options I do like & play more often is borne out of “suck it & see”… the ones I don’t like I either avoid or bench/scrap after at least trying them for myself.
I have created characters with 24 of the 36 possible spec’s in the game (across all twelve Classes), 14 of those (plus 3 duplicates of 2 spec’s) are L50 or above, so 10 of them are less favoured than the others… but only 6 of them are L60.
I get the idea of recommendation, but don’t feel I have the interpersonal skills to recommend something to other people - I just figure that people will try stuff if they’re curious enough so they can form their own opinions - like I did.
I main druid, simply because I’m indecisive and can play any role + all the quality of life stuff like looting while flying
My main alt is BM hunter, has been since maybe early Wotlk. Obsessed with pets, always loved pet classes/summoners where their pets make up a decent portion of their damage. Plus it’s ultra mobile, and super chill to play
To be honest just for leveling atm and then at endgame torghast and some very casual raiding and m+, but mainly open world.
I honestly get what you’re saying, and I didn’t mean any offense in regard of your Asperger’s. The thing is that I’m not sure what class/spec I want to try next, hence making such a thread + like I already said I like reading why people enjoy things because it makes me wanna try stuff I maybe hadn’t thought of before.
For example I wouldn’t have tried Assassins Creed Odyssey if a friend didn’t tell me about it, and I’m super glad I did because it’s now one of my favorite open- world games.
I would ask why you feel the need to try another? Again, I get the curiosity, but would temper it with an open mind based on the foundations of other’s opinions.
Do any of the Classes you haven’t tried have a unique enough way of playing that they pique more curiosity that others? That, at least for me, would be a primary avenue to explore.
Agree with this. I know this is purely subjective matter but it can make the decision-making process easier if I have something I can relate to, for example one of the above posters said he/she thinks Enhancement Shaman could be up my alley because I like Fury War.
As for why I want to try another class? I just like to level and feel that itch again to get a new char from 1-50, maybe even 60 if the new lvling in SL is okay.
