Most iconic Classes playing as a Tauren lorewise?

So I am thinking to try out to play a Tauren! Which class would fit the race best ingame wise? I wanna feel immersed when playing one. Also if you can go into the depth and explain the lore to why that (X) Class fits the race.

Cheers!

Top picks:
Warrior. Tauren are big, strong, and they hit hard. Their most iconic leaders (Cairne, Baine) are warriors first and foremost swinging around big spears/hammers. The tauren ‘racial weapon’ is a massive totem, that’s basically a tree trunk. Speaking of totems…

Shaman. Tauren have a strong shamanic heritage with their Spirit Walkers and connection to their ancestors. Another major tauren character is Magatha Grimtotem, a shaman (though she’s a bad guy). The totem aesthetic is core to taurens visuals which is part of why shaman takes 2nd place.

Druid and Hunter take joint third place for me. Some might say druids deserve second place over shaman because of Hamuul but honestly I always felt like tauren druids were tacked on to give Horde a druid race in vanilla and they never really had a proper tauren druid ‘identity’ of their own. They’re just NElf-lite with their druidism. Still, Hamuul is a major character and tauren druids are prominent.

Hunter takes the 3rd spot alongside druid because though tauren do have a strong hunter vibe throughout, they don’t really have a representative people can point to. Huln is the closest and he’s a) dead for 10000 years and b) a Highmountain, not a “Kalimdor” tauren. Still, you can’t go wrong with a tauren hunter, though as memory serves their gun/crossbow animation is terrible.

While they can be DKs, pallies, priests, monks, and in DF rogues/mages, I don’t really see them as being iconic for tauren culture, even with characters like Aponi and Dezco for paladins - Sunwalkers just got watered down too hard over time and never really had their own ‘style’.

They were also the first shaman, and they’ve a deep cultural connection to the Earthmother. To me shaman is the prime Tauren archetype.

Echoing Elenthas with the classes but honestly none of them are really more or less fitting. Some Taurens are more likely to become a warrior and some to take up the druidic or shamanistic path or become hunters, they’re not “less Tauren” for any of it, like in every race the individuals have different pahts.

I really like the sunwalker thing but paladin is not really iconic, not really rogue either but it fits if you want to play a Grimtotem in DF.

The best thing is probably to take a class you like  (maybe not DK if you want to fit in with the Tauren nature focused theme though that too could provide interesting stories)

Shaman, hunter or warrior I think are the most iconic. Druid is a distant second and most else are way back in third, at least in my opinion.

That being said, if someone was to have started WoW in MoP, then in that perspective paladin would probably rank as fairly iconic given the questline on pandaria.

Still, don’t disregard the other classes too - including the two new options rolling out for tauren in Dragonflight, they might not have the same immediate iconic effect, but you can always give it your own spin!

Or maybe I’m just biased with my love of monster folk wearing robes and cloth and having physical prowess be a less important feature.

Tauren Rogue man.

Speculated for years and dismissed by the lowly minded folks… Can’t even tell they’re Tauren Rogue for Perith Stormhoof managed to make his way unseen to Theramore and warn Jaina, slipping right through the Horde army’s watch and their spy network.

If you ain’t a Tauren rogue, you ain’t nothin’.

Yeah, Elenthas has the right opening answer on this post.

Applies to everyone not a tree-elf except trolls who get their own culture and animal gods.

Most suffer from that, and your weapon animation is still client-side only after all these years so RPing is an uphill struggle.

Only one possible reply in my opinion.
Druid.

The constant quotes about “earthmother” speaks volumes.

i will be rerolling mage though once dragonflight lands

Tauren are a Culture of Hunters, protected by Braves (warriors). with their spiritual leaders being Shaman.
Those three are the most Tauren like classes.

Then you have Druid and Priest/Paladin. Those both Explore different Sides of Tauren Culture.
One being the preservation of life, and the other being protection of life.

Monks and the Dragon flight classes are odd ones. they can definitely be played as a Tauren and can have a Tauren spin to it (monks can be seen as a different form of shamanism. Rogues being Pirates and Grim totem. and mages being Rune masters* or ley walkers* <*RPG lore>) but they’re not that numerous among tauren.

Death knights are The Anti tauren. you can play them just fine but not if you want to play something distinctly tauren.
