And I think the worst witnessed Stormwind trope is when two people meet that can’t continue a conversation.

“Nice weather in Stormwind, huh?”
“Yes”.

Worse is when you meet someone on your character and that other person just gives you one word replies or so blunt that it’s super boring. Why do people do this? Is this just a self-insert issue because I’ve noticed that some people do that too IRL. Just a lack of creativity? Too lazy?

Consider that some people are really shy, self-conscious and/or insecure about their RP, so they spend a lot of time thinking about their own responses and how they come across.

Then I can imagine how they conclude that saying less is safer.

I’m not one of those people but I’ve more than a few friends who’ve expressed how much pressure they feel when interacting IC with a stranger.

Among other things. Surcoat is more like a robe while tabard is shorter. Tabards also started getting used after the surcoats, so the time period between the two also differs.
