Mount collecting questions

Hey all, hope you’re doing well.

I am pretty new in collecting so I have some questions.

In my mount tab I see that I have collected 168 mounts, but I reached 150 mounts achievement when I was at around 160. Does the achievement tracks only mounts collected with one character or they are character wide? Beside this character, I have another one that I made when I started to play the game and bought only few mounts from night elf race vendor. After that I made trial character so I can buy Pandaren turtles from the Pandaren race vendor in SW because I didn’t know I can buy mounts when I hit exalted reputation with that faction.

Also, if the achievement doesn’t count character-wide, is there any way to buy same mounts that I obtained with other character (for an example Pandaren turtles) and to add them in my achievement tracker so I can reach 300 mount achievement “faster”?

Thank you for the answers and sorry for probably stupid questions.

As you guessed, the mount achievements work separately. So it’s how many mounts a character can actually use.

Some races get more class mounts than others, Paladin is very good for that, for example, there are also profession restricted mounts. Mounts can be class, faction or profession restricted.

I used to just use the track achievement method to see where I was at when I was doing mine. Sometimes you hit the threshold but it wont count until you’ve relogged onto the character that can use the most.

It’s a slightly confusing system considering it counts all the mounts in the tab.

Uhh, it’s a bit confusing system, have to admit.

So basically, have to obtain them with my main character if I want them to count for my achievement?

No, no. The achievement only requires that the same character can USE x amount of mounts.

If you get something with character A, then it counts for character B of course, unless it’s restricted in some way (profession, opposite faction, class, etc.)

And you can use this website to track it per character.
https:/ /simplearmory.com/#/eu/arathor/lysende/collectable/mounts
(replace arathor with your realm name and lysende with your character name)

The problem is that the systems changed over time and so it’s a bit archaic.

If it’s a mount any character can use and is the right faction then it should count for your main. So for example if your hunter alt went and got a mount from Zereth Mortis, your main would also get access to that. However if your hunter went and did the class hall questline for the hunter mounts then no that would not count for your main. Or if you went on a Horde character and got a wolf mount in Orgrimmar, that would not count for your Shaman main (I’m just using your posting character as the example).

Thank you very much for the answers, don’t know why those things were confusing me.

Most mounts work accross all your characters but there are certain rules / restrictions that muddy the waters.

Some mounts are Faction specific: An Alliance character cannot use an Orc Wolf mount.
Some mounts are Class specific: A Warrior cannot ride a Paladin Charger.
Some mounts are Race specific: A Dreanei cannot ride a Light-Forged Dreanei Elekk.
Some mounts are level specific: A level 1 character can ride the Heirloom mount but not most other mounts. A level 20 can use ground mounts but not flying mounts.
There may be other specifics out there, like rep or ahievements that limit access to a mount.

But mounts that drop in dungeons and raids are accessible to all your characters no matter the Faction, Race, Class etc. As long as you meet the level requirements.
Most mounts bought from vendors are similar although can be Faction specific (such as Orc Wolf bought in Orgrimar).

I’m glad we could help!

Just be glad the days are gone when you physically carried your mount around in your bags and they had different running speeds

I wish we still had to carry the mount summoning items in our bags because zereth mortis stuff and 3-4 sets of armor do not fill them up enough.

Also make sure you have a pala or lock alt as they get 1 extra mount free.

On top of that the Paladin gets an extra mount to farm at Argent Tournament and we have several versions of the Class Mount in Legion.

Ofc i forgot the Argent mount as well

Naah, I am gonna stay Shaman  more oriented to nature classes like shaman, hunter and druids

It’s a lot of grinding of old content to get all those mounts so it’s probably wise
