Mount collection / "We're Going to Need More Saddles" achievement bug?

I was at 149 mounts on my Horde paladin before buying The Dragon Pack from the Blizzard Store. After successfully purchasing the bundle I logged onto my Alliance hunter, “unwrapped” all 5 of the dragon mounts that I just bought (I did NOT own any of them prior to purchasing the pack) and saw that my Total Mounts counter in my Collections tab went down to 143.

I thought logging on my paladin would grant me the “We’re Going to Need More Saddles” achievement, since that class has access to more mounts than other classes -due to their class specific ones. So I logged over to my Alliance paladin and the Total Mounts number went up to 161, but the achievement still did not complete.

I attempted to contact customer support ( ← me) but I only received an automated response and my ticket is flagged as resolved. The issue however still stands.

This morning I logged onto my druid on the Alliance side (this character) and its Total Mounts number is now 144. This was 161 last night, after logging onto this character from my paladin. My Horde paladin is sitting at 159 mounts right now, and my Alliance paladin has 161. Looking at this character’s (the druid’s) mount collection through the “armory” shows 161 mounts collected, but some of those are Horde mounts, so like…

I guess the Horde mounts show up on my armory page because it shows all the mounts collected on my ACCOUNT, not just on this CHARACTER. And that’s 161 mounts total. But then why does the in-game Collections tab show the same number for an Alliance character? I attempted to manually count my mounts on my Alliance paladin and I counted 131. :skull:

Can someone explain what is happening? Do I Need More Saddles or nah? Where does the Collections tab get its numbers from? Am I tripping or is this thing bugged? Are there mounts that I own that for some reason don’t show up in my Collections or I just can’t count? Am I sitting on an Invincible without knowing it? And why are certain mounts so tiny on the armory’s mount collection page?

So many questions, all of them legit. I hope I can get some answers/help. Thank you in advance.

Greetings Aldas,

I can definitely understand where you’re coming from and I know this can cause a fair amount of confusion!

Not to worry though! What you describe is normal, as the achievement only tracks the highest number of usable mounts on a single character.

For all the details, check out the support article about this here:

From there you can also find links to the relevant achievements on wowhead where the comments have further info still.

Hopefully that can help clear things up, but if you still think something isn’t working right, don’t hesitate to send a bug report with your findings!

Thank you for the quick response! Unfortunately, I still don’t understand what’s happening.

Using Wowhead’s mount collection tracker shows the same number for all my Alliance characters. It’s 161 for my Druid and 161 for my Alliance Paladin, even though the Paladin class mounts don’t show up in my Druid’s collection, obviously. For my Horde Paladin it’s 159. It should still be eligible for the achievement. I did log into most of my characters in-game too, including the Warlocks, the Paladins, etc… But the achievement is still incomplete.

One additional question I have is the following: What if I no longer have the characters that unlocked the Legion class mounts? I migrated to Silvermoon and Draenor from the realms I started out on and deleted most of my characters there to have slots for my new characters. For example, does deleting the Paladin/Warlock I used to get their Legion class mounts have an affect on this achievement? Should I be able to log onto these specific characters to complete it? I mean, I still have access to their mounts on my current characters, so I think it’s account-wide and shouldn’t be a problem?
