So, apparently only characters above level 100 get the Anglers’ Water Striders in mail (assuming you had the water strider mount before), which is all nice and well, but I have a ton of alts between levels 20 and 100, who have happily used the Azure Water Strider as their main mount until now (cos water walking is great)… but now they just got a slap in the face, cos they didn’t get said replacement equipment in the mail.
I guess Blizzard expects me to hump over to pandaria and spend over a thousand gold to buy the mount equipment for my alts, that I expected to be free for all my characters? Just as it has been free up until now.
Well. Technically you don’t need water walking from level 60 to 90. So it’s just between 20 to 60. and 90 to 98 if you don’t have draenor pathfinder. It’s not that bad.
Not being funny but if you’ve never had the strider then nothing has changed for you. Getting the strider is one MoP TW session now. Takes a few hours (assuming you have a few alts)
What it does: If making friends with the Anglers isn’t in the cards for you, this is one more way to help your favourite mount walk on water, though damage will cancel the effect. Where to get it: Barter with your local Blacksmith or head to the auction house. Blacksmiths with a minimum Batttle for Azeroth skill level of 150 can learn to forge these items.
MoP, 90 cap, every char 90 or above should have gotten it. This is at the very least, every char could use the strider so essentially every char at 20+ should have gotten it! But atleast they didn’t stand with their 1 per account thing, aside from this. Nope Bliz still using the strider when I’m in the water. You hate it? I loved it. Same way the vast majority of drake mounts aren’t my taste at all. I like something elegant like hyppogryphs, Ji-Kun or gryphons. Or smaller mounts.
The Water Strider mounts no longer have their water walking ability, the only way to have water walking with this new system is to acquire either Anglers’ Water Striders (purchase from Nat Pagle in Krasarang) or Inflatable Mount Shoes (crafted by Blacksmiths) mount equipment and then equip in the new mount equipment slot at the bottom of the mount journal.
Other little bits of information regarding Anglers’ Water Striders: it’s a Unique item so you can only have ONE in your inventory at a time (you can equip one in the mount equipment slot and then purchase another one); if you want to buy multiple Anglers’ Water Striders to mail to alts, take note that you can only buy one at a time and there is an account-wide mail limit on Unique items of 20 per day (which means you can only mail a maximum of 20 Anglers’ Water Striders to alts per day).
Nor had I until today. I was buying Anglers’ Water Striders for all my alts under level 100 and obviously because it’s a unique item I had to mail each one as I purchased it. After I’d mailed 20 of them I then got a message telling me that I’d reached the limit for mailing unique items when I tried to mail another one. Switched to another alt and tried to mail another Anglers’ Water Striders but got the same message. Was certainly a surprise to me, but it’s not going to be a problem because I can just send the rest tomorrow or whenever, none of my alts need that piece of equipment urgently. But this restriction certainly does show that some account-wide storage is very much way overdue!
