I do recall at the time England had some referendums on some regional assemblies but it failed.
I think it partly stems from the belief you buy a home as an investment, not somewhere to live. People think theyāre rich but in reality itās their house thatās overvalued. Successive British governments have helped first time buyers but what that are doing now is propping up a housing bubble.
First we had 25 year morgages now we have lifetime mortgages. Retired people will still paying off their mortgage when they die. There were some suggestions that you can inherent a mortgage.
The housing market needs to crash; Iām sure itās like that in other countries too.
