Mounts Achievements Problem

Agreed, if that’s what you believe then your OP seems to be a very confusing use of English, because I get the idea you feel it’s a bad thing when I read the post.

First post is about explaining why carrier ottuk dont gonna be changed and we will being gifted common, recolored mounts till 2000 mounts and end of this game. You can see up what rewards for collecting looks fair, PRETTY unused apperances every 50 mounts you have got, and again, its not big deal to do it, but it won’t happen because:

Huge percentege of players even can be happy with that fact mount farmers got common reward for their effort because they dont farm mounts, they just buy mounts from store, tcg mounts, other expensive mounts… and enjoy riding only one favorite mount.

Are you a game designer or have any experience to be able to confirm that?

But that’s all subjective…I like collecting mounts but there’s ones there I would not choose over other alternatives. Thereby “we” don’t want it because there hasn’t been a wider discussion/consultation on it and because we are asking questions or challenging opinions your response is:

If you can’t stand having alternative viewpoints then don’t come onto the forums expecting the Asmongold echo chamber to enact change.

I used to collect mounts but stopped because I notticed that rewards are really boring. Ok some mounts look nice, but some werent anything special. I have around 350 mounts, so I am still far away from 500, but I dont really see any reason to farm more mounts to get to 500 if I can get similar mount with reputation or something similar.

Same thing is with getting 100 reputations, while that unicorn mount is fine, there are few others really similar to that, and in my opinion some look better than the one rewarded for getting 100 exalter reputations. I believe I have 80 exaltet reputations, but I dont really see a reason to go out of my way to farm reputations to get achievement and a mout I wont use. But if it rewarded something better I would try to get to those 100 reps as fast as possible.

It is not subjective, I bet most people want these listed mounts than yeti or ottuk that we will get 1 more armored recolor, and 3 more unarmored in next expansion. Or even more it’s all in progress you know, painting model for another colour may take some time.

Aren’t mounts in themselves a reward? So you want a reward for your rewards but will moan because you believe you deserve a better reward for your rewards than the reward you’ve been offered?

Everyone gets a participation trophy mentality.

On warcarftmounts page u can check there is a lot of amazing pretty looking unused apperances mounts which will be wasted, why don’t use them and save this poor carrier ottuk for meta achivement with tuskars or something like this? Your opinions are hard to understand for me, maybe i will have another point of view with magic rooster or swift zulian panther in my collection

I have neither of those mounts and I’m saying the same as other posters. Does that make it easier to comprehend now? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Okay… you are playing since 2008 and only 442 mounts - doesnt seem to be fan of mounts, look at my oldest achi and my mounts collection and stop destroying my dreams if you dont even have any profits from it, maybe you will feel bad about that someone afking in Oribos on Golden Soul Eater mount that you will aren’t able to get like im not able to get magic rooster, swift zulian panther or any of gladiators mount because i don’t want to spend 8000 euro for it. I dont understand or it’s all about money

I have more than the average person who doesn’t engage in old content, etc., I’d love to have more mounts but I don’t have the time with work and personal commitments.

“Destroying your dreams”? Wow…could you be any more melodramatic over pretty mounts?

I’ve been playing wow for 6 months and already have 140 mounts…this game literally throws mounts at you so maybe quit acting like you’ve achieved something when in fact mounts are nothing more than a sign of time invested…literally zero effort goes into collecting them.

But that’s sort of the fallacy as I tried to illustrate it.

It’s your own expectations that set an increasingly higher bar for Blizzard to introduce a mount that is deemed acceptable.

You’re sort of setting yourself up for disappointment, if you can wrap your head around that.

Nowhere is it said or implied that the mount (or any other reward) should get increasingly more awesome, or that “awesome” is defined by neon colors and wings.

And looking at the track record, then that’s not really the case either, is it? It’s not like Albino Drake → Dragonhawk → Pandaren Kite establishes any kind of precedence as far as appearance or style is concerned. They’re just mounts.

And that’s certainly not how it is with anything else either. When Blizzard releases new tier sets, then they’re not objectively more awesome than they ones that came before. Blizzard increases the detail of the appearances (as they do with mounts), but whether something is more awesome or not is really in the eye of the beholder.

Tbh they could atleast set it on fire so it doesn’t look almost identical to the rep ones that everyone is going to have. What would be cool would be 2 rewards, the otter and a customization for the upcoming dragon riding mounts.

While this isn’t necesarily implied, or required that a mount is a walking rave party, there are 2 elements that define an awesome mount, that are based in elementary psychology:

  1. Scarcity: As seen in anything in nature: gold, diamonds, rare metals, blue eyes, red hair, etc. Anything that is in less quantity is more valuable. Applies to mounts as well: less recolours or harder to aquire models are more wanted. This is undeniable, so let’s look at it as a fact.
  2. Flashiness: Again, a fact of nature. The reason why peacocks have those awesome tails, and why people will turn their heads to a Red Ferrari but wont notice a grey VW Polo. Thing that get your attention are seen as “cooler” and different from the crowd. Again, you can check this in all walks of life.

Mount gathering does not follow a linear curve, just a head up. It’s definitely much easier now to hit the 250-300 mounts achiev just by going for the easy pickings from factions, reps, shadowlands covenants, etc etc But at some point you will hit a wall and start going against the RNG or longer grinds. There are tons of awesome mounts that can’t be obtained anymore that were trivial to get compared to this: Obsidian Destroyer comes to mind first. Unique model as well.
In any sort of reward system in video games and real life, there is some kind of connection between the efort put in and the reward. Now this was all turned on it’s head. The reward for collecting 500 mounts is on level with a reputation reward. It deems it instantly obsolete.

Why didn’t you lead with this instead of barreling in with name calling?

This is a much more measured and approachable way to get your point across.

You have ONLY 140 mounts, try getting to 500 and you will probably need a couple of years to get to that number. While the game does throw a lot of mounts at you, some mounts are really hard to get. So you will probably need to spend more time getting your next 140 moutns, than you did your first 140 mounts…

My point is again that you’re imposing this yourself, but nowhere is it established that the achievement mount has to fulfill any of these conditions.

I mean, the first 4 mounts were plain-colored and the last 4 have been flashy-colored.
There have been 6 flying mounts and 2 ground mounts.
None of the mount models are exclusive, only the colors.
One mount – the Dragonhawk – has been used two times (or four if you account for faction colors).
There are drakes, infernals, hawks, and kites amongst the mount models used.
Some mounts are very high-fantasy and others are more terrestrial.

If Blizzard are going for anything in their design, then it’s variety.

There are lots of players who appreciate different kinds of visuals. How do we serve them best? Variety! Something for everyone!

That seems to be the name of the game: Variety. You get some flying mounts, you get some ground mounts. You get some plain-looking mounts, and you get some flashy ones. You get big mounts and you get small mounts. You get high-fantasy inspired mounts and simple terrestrial mounts.

Variety.

And if there is a problem, then it is that individual players seem unable to look beyond their own nose.
If they see a mount or a transmogrification or anything else that they don’t like the appearance of, then it’s crap garbage and Blizzard are terrible and should consider replacing their amateur artists, right?
Some players seem unable to look beyond their own nose and recognize that whilst they might not appreciate the appearance of something, then someone else might.

Whereas one player might appreciate flashy and sparkly appearances with a lot of bling and really epic high-fantasy vibes, then other players might appreciate very grounded themes of a plain old horse and a grey robe and a wizard’s hat.

And this Otter WILL be in the game in many forms and colours for those people. Anyone who wants it will get it and be happy with it during Dragonflight: Reputation, a rare drop, maybe a short daily quest like those from Korthia, etc.
There will be many ways for casuals and non-collectors to get their cute Otter from different activities, as the models in the collection tab suggest.
So why put another recolour of it as this achievement reward instead of something that would please long time collectors as well? It doesn’t mean this model would get removed from other people, it won’t affect anyone.

Excuse me, but it seems to me like you’re forgetting you still have this thread active.

clearly the reward needs to be mail muncher so asmonbald can finally get it … he-he … snickers to herself
