Mouse Cursor bug - “snapping”/”resetting” to center of screen

Blockquote

I was directed here specifically from Technical Support (please do not move thread to Technical Support)

The very old mouse cursor bug - where holding either left or right mouse button and dragging the mouse can sometimes cause the cursor to “teleport” or “snap” or “reset” (probably other ways to describe it, for purpose of fishing past reports of this problem. The cursor moves).

In 9.2, it’s back.

I was directed here specifically from Technical Support (please do not move thread to Technical Support) since troubleshooting this issue in general (I have been following this on and off for years) is completely unsuccessful and has been historically completely unsuccessful, worsened by false reports of “success” that were simply poorly replicated/tested. Players have had this bug ongoing for a long time, will try a “fix”, fail to replicate the issue, have it return and once again back to square 1.

Mouse is wired Razer DeathAdder Essential, in the past this issue was identical with other simple 4th/5th only mouse button mouses (prior tested a HyperX… something).

DPI setting is 800, will likely remain 800 for gameplay/usability reasons. 800 isn’t on the high side.

Thank you.

Mouse pointer snapping to the centre of the screen is a symptom of a crashed mouse driver, when Windows restarts the driver. But it an also be caused by a hardware disconnect/reconnect due to a failed wire in the cable.

ok so I have not lost my mind , since 9.2 been losing track of my mousepointer sometimes and this actually matches what I experience.

/console rawMouseEnable 1

might fix it but you might need to run it each time you are launched the game

Been having this happen randomly since 9.2 dropped as well.

us forum had this blue post

Howdy!

Can you try the following chat command: /console rawmouseenable 0
See if this has any impact. As for details on this issue, our team is investigating this issue and in support, we have found lowering the DPI speed to below 400 helps greatly. If problems continue, I would recommend to report this over on our Bug Report forums with the model of your Mouse, and current DPI settings.

Thank you.

this will show your current value , so yeah i am finding mixed answers so no clue if 0/1 is worth a try

/dump GetCVar(“rawMouseEnable”)

urgh wow forum mangles quotation marks when you copy paste so you have retype them

Really i tryed all the troubleshoots. I have a Razer, uninstall software, started completly without, all addons off, other mouse etc. Since i changed few settings which are recommended and reinstall blizzard its not that often anymore but still it apears. It started right after 9.2 and first i thought damn i need a new mouse, but then we were in halls, we did it twice because we failed 1st time, so same Tank same route and it happend exact at the same time. Most of the time it happens infight.
The last thing is to reinstall the hole game… but i am not convinced this would help, maybe cause its a lot of work^^.
So anyone reinstall game and it desapears?

Do you have controller plugged in to your pc?

No i havent, and i didnt changed anything since 9.2 so its not a hardware problem, i guess its a wow problem. Lowering DPI didnt change it either. And also that mouseEnable 0/1 thing

I have the same problem, none of the suggested fixes worked for me…

Please solve this!

Have the same issue, really frustrating!

Using Logitech Hero G502

Have same problem when new patch started. Mouse is the same and didnt have any problems before.

Same thing happened to me in 9.2 Thought that was hardware problem, bought another mouse to no avail. Then tried everything i could find on the internet.
I found a way to “force” this bug if you hover cursor in top 15% of the screen left-right and click it snaps to center 50% of the time.
Lastly installed addon “AdvancedIterfaceOptions” Started meddling with all the settings.
Finally something fixed/worked:
“CursorFreelookStartDelta” - is set to 0.001 as default. I Changed it to “0.01” then to “0” and cursor no longer snaps.
As for other Cursor settings:
rawMouseEnable - 1
rawMouseAccelerationEnable - 0
rawMouseRate - 125
rawMouseResolution - 400
