Mouse Cursor Issues

Hi. I started having some technical issues with my mouse cursor and I can’t seem to resolve it.

A month or so ago I installed the latest Nvidia graphics driver. WoW worked fine, however the mouse cursor color looked “washed out”.

At first I didn’t mind it but yesterday and I tried fixing it when I stumbled upon this Reddit post.

I used this command: /console hardwareCursor false and that resolved the UI issue however, the mouse cursor started lagging and flickering. It seemed really subtle at first but it actually made the game unplayable when I was trying any demanding content. I believe that the more the game loads stuff the more mouse cursor is lagging, but I’m not 100% sure. One obvious thing I noticed what the the mouse cursor doesn’t like moving much while in loading sreens.

I have tried:

  • installing an even newer graphics driver version which was available.
  • reverting the option /console hardwareCursor true (this seems to slightly improve the issue but I have no idea why reverting this doesn’t just work).
  • calling different console commands like /console rawMouseEnable “1”, /console mouseSpeed “0”, /console rawMouseAccelerationEnable 0, and /script SetCVar("gxFixLag ", 0);.
  • scanning and repairing the game with Battle.net launcher.
  • and a combination of these as well of course.

The only thing I didn’t manage to do was to delete the WTF folder but that is because when I delete it I’m unable to start the WoW because of some other error and I would need to reinstall the game.

I’m using:
Windows 10
DELL P2419HC (1920x1080@60Hz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 2047MB

EDIT:
I found the solution here. Apparently, the right console command to enable hardware cursor again is /console hardwarecursor 1.
