I’m just getting into addons for healing, and I’m trying to configure Clique + Grid2. Is it possible to make it so I cast Renew on someone just by mousing over their frame or character, without a click? Does the game allow that? Or does “mouseover” just mean I don’t need to target them first?
“Mouseover” should mean precisely what you’re requesting there, meaning you’re only required to move your cursor over the unit (player, enemy, object) frames or character silhouette to target and cast.
However, I’d like to offer a word of caution regarding addons as many will be incompatible with gameplay in the Midnight expansion. You might not plan on playing, or are just using these temporarily to try them out etc.
But I’d hate for you to learn how to use these efficiently only to have them potentially taken away down the line. So, worth to keep in mind if relevant!

No, you cannot perform any action by mouseover only.
The game requires aclick or keypress for each action, and addons cannot bypass this.

Nothing on retail, I’m settling into MoP Classic endgame. If you know this is currently possible, please let me know how.
Yes, it is possible so long you have an action button to press while you’re hovering your curser over the player, enemy, or object and Clique is perfect for that type of playstyle.
