Multibotting allowed?

So you want to tell me that multiboxers are alt tabbing each window to do thing ? ( Click on herb in this case) Answer is no. They use sw that copy their action to other windows (chars). And tell me how this is not considered like botting? How is this automated pressing same buttons on other chars allowed? I will tell you why: cuz money.

Because there is a person pressing that ability that is replicated on the others.

Bots don’t require a person sat at the pc. It’s a programme that will go out and perform actions without any human interaction.

For example I had a friend who used a bot (back in MoP) and he fell asleep after setting his bot going, when he woke up he found his character had a ridiculous amount of ore. He then didn’t feel he could list it all at once for fear of getting caught or triggering some kind of warning.

He probably got caught out in the next ban wave but I really dont’ remember now.

I am getting this whole yes ofc. I just think that still its on the edge and it shouldnt be allowed, since its copying your input to other chars. Means you dont play that char activel like you do on that one main char. Imo its not how game should be played…bit its tolerated only cuz money from sub.

Don’t get me wrong I’m no fan of multi boxing but it’s just not against the rules.

We hear this a lot and it’s always been a bad argument. What you are saying is that Blizz condones something they otherwise would not just because there is a sub cost linked to the account. If this was the case then why do they ban up 500k+ players in ban waves, some for violations that arguably have less benefit or externality on others than a multiboxer farming, PvPing or whatever else, such as levening bots? Surely they would just allow those people to continue by your logic? Since this is not the case, it makes no sense to claim that they so desperately would cling on to massively lesser amount of money from our subscriptions. They’ve been consistant on this all the way from Vanilla and this is nothing more than a bad attempt to attribute a malicious motivation to their rules and their interpretation to claim a supposed moral high ground and be able dismiss them without having to make an actual argument as to why the rule or interpretation is wrong.

Really now? I had up to 15 accounts in Legion that I paid for out of pocket. Sure I used gold some times as well, but I chose to just pay just as often since I don’t generally enjoy farming all that much. I’d much rather spend my limited play time doing things I enjoy more. And what gold I could generate ingame was rarely worth the time. I’d be better off just working a few hours extra in RL and buying tokens if I was thar concerned with gold…

It doesn’t really copy your actions over to all of the game clients, but rather you do the same action in all the windows. There is no “primary recipiant” among your game clients for the keypress.

Think of it like this: If you were to put a popsicle stick over your 1-5 keys and press down on it, are you now automating 4 out 5 keypresses? Blizzard does not think so. You are still the one pressing all the keys, just simultaneously. This is more or less the same thing multiboxing software does and the the reasoning as to why it is allowed.

Blizzard has also made multiboxing harder and in some cases almost impossible. They were always rare, IMO, but now you only hear about multiboxers in battlegrounds about once or twice a year because the /follow command was disabled in BGs. Only the most dedicated try to set it up so they can smash BGs, and it’s only really possible if they can win by fighting at a single point like in Isle of Conquest.

It wasn’t ever a big problem to meet a five-box of shammies in a BG where you don’t have to fight in one place, but it was enough of a problem (maybe because they could rack up kills faster) that it was made much harder. If one could convince Blizzard that farming multiboxers hurt the economy badly (and many other players suffer for it) something would be done. Eventually.
