Didnât AmanâThul say theres only one main universe? But beings like the Bronze Dragonflight are able to create alternate timelines. So someone like Kairoz would first have to travel back in time, change the timeline to make Arthas win and then find a portal strong enough to travel to the future to invade the main timeline. Same for all the other options.
Possible? Yeah probably but itâs not very creative imo.
Time-travel always leads to more problems and itâs best to be avoided.
This kind of Timey-wimey stuff has to be handled with care. It cheapens the content so much. There is no sense of danger or peril. Rick & Morty parody this so well and show how ridiculous stories can get when you have infinite universes (there might be a universe out there where Time-Wimey stories are actually good but I doubt it).
There was a fair bit of criticism in WoD of this very issue. So I think theyâd pushed the Timey-Wimey thing far enough probably.
The only multiverse I would accept would be one in which SL never happened.
We just all woke up from a serious drunken stupor.
Multiverses are limitless, thats why they are cheap. Hard pass.
Thing with multiverse is: Thereâs no real stakes.
Someone dies? Bring on a multiverse version.
A location is destroyed? Weâll just go there in another reality.
Etc etc.
A setting is better overal without a multiverse unless you use it very very sparingly and have strict rules/limitations about the use of it (For example: Access to other places takes incredible amounts of energy -magical or otherwise- so you canât âjust do itâ).
Multiverse option exists for lazy writing so multiple writers can write their own thing without having to retconâŚ
Absolutely loathe such cheap storytelling and why I hate Marvelâs MCU crap to get around gender and race swaps from the original design instead of, you know, being originalâŚ
Plus it cheapens any impact of pivotal moments.
But we could have a univers where the bloodelves never joined the horde.
That would spare us many future discussions

In fairness, I think the only way I can see an expansion (Singular, not plural) that tackles such an idea working, is if itâs got the Infinite Dragonflight involved, and it all takes place in the context of you trying to prevent them from altering the timeline. Perhaps small alterations are already noticeable in the present, and you need to help the Dragonflight resolve those before going into the main expansion are being⌠I donât know, pick a zone from the past and do stuff there.
HOWEVER⌠Despite saying that it could work, it is something that can and should only be done once, and only in case of emergency. If you start relying on it for every expansion, it starts to get annoying and repetitive.
