I am very confused on how Muradin got his powers and why. I know Dwarves are people of the Earth and can transform into a stone like texture and grow size, but can any Dwarf do this? Muradin seems to have abilities of a shaman because he can turn into stone and use elements like lightning, is this because he is the Mountain King?
well, as you already pointed out, Dwarves have a deep connection with the Earth, specifically because of their historical background (having been Earthen). Every Dwarf are able to use the powers you describe, since all Dwarves are able to use [Stoneform]. Apart from that, I remember reading that such techniques were passed on to newer generations, and that the Mountain King has specific knowledge of abilities that help in combat. But every Dwarf should be able to use the Earth at their disposal, possibly other Elements too.
I always thought Stoneform was just a representation of the Dwarves and their great, physical grit; being able to endure poisons and ills through sheer toughness.
So all Dwarves possess magical abilities?
Seems that way. Stoneform is also referenced in the dwarrf heritage quests, where you aquire a more powerful version of your stoneform (temporarily), to reforge the armor. The stone form seems to have weakened through the generations, though.
I suppose itâs not only the Mountain King that is taught the abilities since Muradin could transform and such all the way back in WC3, maybe even earlier, I canât remember.
By that logic Brann could technically learn how to do it and maybe people who are in lower ranks in the military.
I wouldnât specify it as magical but rather ability to undo the curse of flesh for a short period of time.
If I recall correctly in the old lore Brann was the one who discovered it and spread the knowledge to other dwarves.
