Mutilate is MASSIVELY overtuned

Hi there.

Mutilate is WAY too strong. It’s BIS for every spec: damage, tank, and pvp.

I don’t understand the decision to lessen it’s cost to 40 energy. Even with 60 Energy, there is so much more value than with Sinister Strike. You got:

  • Hitting with 2 weapons means double crit chance, double poison procs, and halved miss chance
  • Twice as much combo points as with IMPROVED Sinister Strike, and SS needs 80 energy for this
  • All of that within 1 global cooldown instead of 2 = twice as fast
  • 2 talent points left to speed up progress in combat and/or subtletly tree.

In fact, Mutilate has no single downside and every other combo generator is pointless. Sword or Mace specs are dead. Make it cost 60 Energy so the player can choose if he wants value OR a fluid rotation. Even with 60 Energy, mutilate is objectively the better skill, but you’re not forced to play with daggers. I mean, it’s so strong that even Main Gauche can’t compete for a tank. And Main Gauche gives 3 CP and 10 % parry!

Mutilate NEEDS a rebalance. Please do something, Blizzard.

They can’t. The team lacks skill/talent. It’s more like a very small group of friends doing this as a hobby

I must agree. Rogue runes are useless now, you cant play outside brew envenom and mutilate. You mutilate on dps pve, pvp, tank. Its boring. I would like to use shiv or saber slash in pvp, or even sinister strike.

But their balance team is focused LIKE HELL on shamans and warlocks xD Their work on rogue is so long overdue they dont even want to think about it anymore. Besides, they know that if they nerf mutilate, an epic sword-fist weapon demanding rogue would be even more ignored in raid parties since our damage is not even that good. Theres not enough gear on sunken to feed those fury warriors, those 1h hungry melee huntards and enhacement shamans. So they decided to lock us in daggers so we dont bother our blizz boys mind too much.

The step going down to 40 energy from 60 was too much (but necessary in p2)
Maybe it is time now to go half a step backwards and raise it back up to 50 ? Simple and effective.

Problem is that 40 energy mutilate is the ONLY THING that makes us playable. Even a 50 energy cost would destroy us because theres no alternative. The whole class is not balanced for SOD changes like others. All other combo generators are a joke, no damage, no combo gen, high energy cost, nothing to do against other classes high damage outputs. If we are suddenly swapped to sinister strike or saber slash, it would take us 10 seconds (build points, w8 for energy to come back (no mana, remember), and finishers) to do what other classes just needs 2 or 3 seconds to do better.

It would reduce yout dps output caused by mutilate and envenom by like 20%. So overall dps loss between 7 and 10% i guess?

Getting destroyed is far beyond that.

But you are right, the main problem is that even with 50 energy then mutilate would be the only option.
So there would also be a tuning needed for the saber slash and backstab runes
