No mana problem in raids. Its only in m+
And yes i believe its because i mostly pug in the 6-9 range atm. People stand in stuff and misses interupts and often undergeared tanks. So it gets intensive for mana but ive tanked same keys with different healers and monks struggle more then others when we get to those situations.
It just bothers me because a quick hotfix with maybe 5-10 percent mana reduction on vivify and/or enveloping mist would do wonders.
Or make mana tea baseline or make it last longer or have shorter cd.
Its the ignoring of the issue that bothers me
Yeah, mana tea really should be baseline. It’s best for literally every piece of content anyway.
I only run with my guild, but I can honestly say a +10 is much easier than a +9.
If your group is managing the Pridefuls correctly so that you go into a boss with them, you get 50+ seconds of unlimited mana and healing and you’re most of the way through the fight before it wears off. Completely negates our usual mana shortages and feels so damn good to go full throttle.
We had one run where we’d overpulled and were clearly going to miss the timer, so we died and respawned about 5x until we’d chipped away all the mobs between the unwanted Prideful and the boss, because we didn’t think we’d get through it any other way. Hard slog, but it worked, and it reset the route for the following fights ![]()
Can certainly imagine the pug world having a hard time, however. They’d much rather quit than wipe 5x to get back on course and finish it.
Of course, the effectiveness of Prideful doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to see some mana efficiency adjustments. That we can play around them with a good group isn’t an excuse for making us work harder than other healers. It isn’t an excuse for completely invalidating our turret style healing, or for Mana Tea and Rising Mist being the only talents on their rows that we can take.
MW absolutely should be adjusted enough that those who preferred to hang back and heal at range can do so; or every talent should be changed to something that requires and benefits from melee range so that we know where we’re meant to be.
In other news, I’m pretty pleased with my latest heroic raid using ATotM. When I get it right, I’m back to being the HPS machine from 8.3, but I am concerned that Sludgefist and beyond might be hard on my mana due to the longer fights…

ATotM is insanely good for the vast majority of fights, and is my personal favorite.
If you are concerned about mana for Sludgefirst onwards, run Chi-ji. It’s pretty mana neutral and does a ton of healing. Yesterday I did 540k healing with one cast of Chi-Ji despite having 30% overhealing.
It’s not that I don’t like Chi-Ji… it’s just that he isn’t available often enough.
My raid typically contains myself plus 3-4 out of: resto druid, resto shaman, holy priest and disc priest. The constant drip feed of RJW overall seems to be more useful to both the group and my HPS numbers; even when I’m throttling to avoid mana starvation.
I’d probably get more use out of Chi-Ji if he had less effect on a 1-minute CD, but with his current 3 minutes I struggle to find the right moment. Bursts of raid-wide damage tend to come a lot more frequently.
But maybe that’s something to plan with the other healers and say “hey look, I’ll handle this one, you save yours for the next”.
I agree it can be hard to find the proper moment to use our celestial, but even though it sounds harsh it literally just comes down to the fact that Heroic does not have a lot of damage going out. This means your bird is just going to end up overhealing and feel useless after 10 seconds
that’s true on most fights. but healing is about keeping people alive, not just HPS, and that’s where fistweaving becomes unpredictable when dealing with high tank/single target damage. chi ji lets you save mana (mostly because you can’t cast rjw) and you can spend it on direct healing ppl who are about to die. at least it’s what I’ve seen MW-s do on last few mythic bosses
