Mw monk in arena pretty bad

I’m doing 2v2 right now and my ilvl is 185 and my heals are really low compared to other healers, plus I can’t help damage anymore because of it. I’m struggling badly against really bad players. I’m playing with glad dps and we’re losing to players who don’t have 2k achivs, it’s not just the 1 shots it’s the pressure from classes like waris, my heals just can’t keep up. Whereas other healers heal more and help do alot of dmg on the side. Like the last game I was in we lost to a wari who has this season done 250 games and not yet got 1800 rating, he didn’t play well but every hit on my partner was to much for my heals. If it’s not a 1 shot class problem it’s the long 5min games where I can’t keep up with the pressure from the other none 1 shot classes, but it seems other healers can and have plenty of mana to spare.
I’m looking at xunamate and this is how many healer classes are playing 2v2 right now:
Disc: 51094
Holy pala: 21945
Resto sham: 15533
Resto druid: 10290
MW monk: 2426 (edit: Mw are now below hoyl priests and officially at the bottom).
Holy priest: 2126
(it’s the same for 3v3 too)
And mw monk are at the bottom of rated bg’s too, they have been on top of rbg healers for years ever since I can remember. How can they have fallen this much?!
I haven’t come across a single mw monk yet in arena, not even in skirmishes. I don’t know wether to stop playing it until they buff mw abit.
Sad thing is I just leveled 2 mw monks, 1 ali and 1 horde and both around 184 ilvl. I feel like I’ve wasted so much time.

i think as of today I’m just going to cap the conquest through bg’s and stuff weekly and keep doing torghast and the usually weekly stuff on my monks but avoid arena until mw’s are viable again. It’s just miserable to be a mw right now.

This is weird, because, I’ve seen MW monk outheal damage of 3-5 people in world PvP in Bastion… long enough for his teammates to tear apart the other group. Seemingly never running out of mana and only ever dying if he got stunned and then silenced before he could throw HoT and that green bubble (of seemingly infinite duration and absorb value) over him

I mean…
Paralysis
AoE stun
2-3 charges of movement skill
Heals 30%+ HP per GCD if left for 1 second without interrupt to the face
MASSIVE absorb shield that also increases healing taken

PS: Mistweavers are not a thing in rated because WW is so good in PvP that a lot of people just switched.

But world pvp is very different from arena, in arena you have the minus healing done debuff. But like just now I checked on xunamate again and mw are at the very bottom below holy priests with only 2.9k mw whereas the number 1 healer disc there is 67k.
Yeh ww is good right now but, I dont want mw monk to be complete garbage.

It feels mw monk wasn’t designed for this fast paced pvp gameplay. In mop when there was this fast pace pvp, mw monks had cocoon in stun and nimble brew (removes stun) and healing elixir triggers automatically when low health in a stun. Now they have nothing to counter this fast pace pvp style.

Im currently at 1.8cr as MW after 100 games. Havent seen another mw. I think were fine. Imho.

I will try cloded focus next week as i get mana problems against sustained dmg from ww or warri.

MW are currently trash tier in arena.

MW just squishy and easy to lock out. Think it’d help to buff our legendary renewing mist proc a bit more. Or allow us to use caccoon in stuns. After trinket/caccoon which you usually need to use to 90% of opener in 3s you are just easy to blow up after ring/port are gone. Loads of utilities but easy to get caught in a bad spot and pay heavily for it.

No its because they are weak. Shadow priest is great too and disc are all over the place. Stupid argument.

I feel you guys. I played resto shaman one bg and almost made me quit monk. Im waiting for tuning if something doesnt happen im back on my shaman.

Somebody really hates MW in the development team.
The problems are with MW:

  • way of the crane was nerfed in BFA to consume 20% mana. That kind of playstyle was intentionally removed which caused MW to become a dummy 40 yard healer
  • AOE stun nerfed to 3 sec stun which is not really worth to use as it will only screw up the stun DR
  • Paralysis was already nerfed from 15 sec CD to 45 sec in BFA and it remained the same
  • It is going OOM extremely fast. Yesterday I was healing in 2v2, against Hpala/WW monk and I went OOM in 2 minutes. Altough i was able to heal out the insane dmg.
  • Healing elixir was also nerfed in BFA so it cannot be used in stun anymore which is completely nonsense as there are no dmg reduction spell or absord trinket which could save you in stun. Almost all healers (expect shaman if I am not mistaken) has dmg reduction def spell for stuns.

So currently what can MW bring to a 3s team? No extra dmg, no interrupt, no CC, hypercare as it can die within a stun, fast games as it will go oom in 2, maximum 3 minutes.
MW requires a set of design changes, not just little tuning here and there.

On the other hand, other healers were buffed in the recent expensions.

  • Hpala doesnt even need to cast anymore, he has like 4 CDs that he can rotate and able to keep the party alive with instants. It has 8 sec repentance, 6 sec stun, high dps during CD, defensive CD during stun and dont have mana issues.
  • Resto shaman also dont have issues with mana, riptide has high healing, hex, stun, interrupt, roots, spammable frost shock, purge. So it brings good utilities for the team.
  • Disc priest: insane dps, doesnt even need to cast shadow mend as healing through atonement is enough, good cc, cannot die. Even holy talent is usable now.

I think my biggest issue is the cocoon. Is like 15k shield in best case scenerio. Rogues 1 shott me true it like is made of paper out of 188 games i never seen DPS switch after i use cocoon is 2 min CD cmon blizz. you cant have classes critting over 20k and make my biggest CD even less than that. ( i even use dampen harm) unless is teleport in LOS i cant survive. Even after the port is pretty dificult if they dont switch on aother target.

Monk curently > Worst Defencives (Shamans dont die) (druids have that insane lego that give them frenzie regen after they shift) (paladins have buble)
We cant win late game. our mana just drops. If you want to compeet whit other classes in late games you have to overextend and get in melee (fistweaver) wich is extreamly risky

Even our best tool mobility is outshined by DHs hunt and DKs grips (necro covenant)

Im not the best mw monk i have like 2k xp but still im pretty sure there is no way you can outplay some of those thinks

I benched my monk in BFA prepatch, all the fun was taken away years ago. I have no idea why would you keep playing it.

O.5 gdc on mist, buff cocoon, melee slow from ww, and buff mana. And im ok :slight_smile:

Give mw spear hand strike also so we get more popular in m+
Feels wierd beeing in melee range and dont have an interupt

and also allow FB/Cacoon to be used in CC.

FB in stun shuld be must fix however i dont realy think cocoon necesary have to be used during stuns that may be abit to much. but buffing the cocoon is defenetly a must

You havent suffered through enough arena games this season to say that. A single switch on a 2-3 second DR stun and you dead. We definitely need that buff along with more buffs ontop of that. We legit need to hold a cast to get all our throughput out so easy to shut down and switch onto (get kicked > into a stun and its rip if you dont have trinket). So underequipped its a joke. No wonder why we are least populated spec of heals on the ladder. I am far from a good arena player but its just painful atm. Sadge

1st why are you playing wihout trinket ?
And i agree mw needs a buff. Just historicly we never had a shield during stun. I dont agree whit that change but indeed other buffs are in order

You clearly haven’t mained MW long enough to know we use to be able to caccoon in CC. Also don’t judge how I play based on my armory which isn’t updated. I do use medallion in arena if thats what you mean lol

MW were able to use cocoon in stun in MoP, I remember being pretty angry at the time when they removed this.
