Ever since TWW prepatch in DF BM felt incredibly weak even after 3x rework.
Background i’ve been playing BM hunter pretty much consistently since WotLK. I roll multible hunter alts (i have a problem) but BM just seems to be waaaay behind MM or SV in terms of doing consistant dps and i find that other hunter specs can easily out dps BM by a million with less gear and less buttons to press.
Today ive tested out some MM builds for a friend that wants to get into Hunter and i noticed the new MM build (meta: sentinel cleave build) bursts for 3.2 million and settles at about 2.2 on a fresh 577 ilvl hunter.
On my Main hunter 630 (SV gear) i barely scratch 2.7 million burst and and then settle around 2.2 million dps after cds come of in BM spec.
On my SV hunter on same hunter (but SV optimized gear) i burst 4.8 million dps and settles at 3.3 million outside of CDs.
I feel like being pushed into playing MM or SV in 11.1 as well as 11.0 because BM simply does not seem to perform as well as SV or MM. Or am i missing something completely?! BM is categorized as A+ DPS for 11.1 but im not seeing it. I really want to play BM hunter as its my favourite spec of hunter. Is BM just busted like 11.0 or am i doing something wrong?
Note: Also tried MM on my 630 hunter. I burst 6 million and it settles at 4.4 outside of CD window. Also i didn’t pop lust at all checks i did before on other specs.

Note 2: All tested on 5x target dummies, no BL and respective (M+) cleave meta builds for MM,BM,SV form Wow-head.
There is your answer 5 Targets is 1 less then the max amount MM is Hard capped at.
If MM is ever going to be good in aoe it needs to beat BM and surv at that target amount.
Bm will do more when you get tier set that is coming.
It is categorized as A+ with the new tier gear not now in pre patch.
No possible way you have watched the video because in that video it is spesifically said play what you want they are good for different things.
BM will be more Single target dps MM will be somewhat better for m+
But what you like more is what you will do more damage on.
If you did not get that from the video there is no possible way you watched it.
There is, also there is no way you have read my post as i clearly stated “cleave damage” which implies doing “cleave” content. Our M+ ratings are about the same but i actually played hunter in s1.
I do however want to thank you for the guide… this guys has a “hunter” discord where i can probably find out how to make BM at least viable in s2.
I am however still open for suggestions on here (from ppl that played more than 1 dung as BM hunter in s1)
